ADMINISTRATION WILLIAM A. STEWART. Supervising Principal As your graduation day approaches, I have a feeling of happiness mingled with regret. I am happy that you have reached this important goal in your life, but I regret that you will not have the privilege of returning next year to share in the advantages and opportunities which our new building will provide. It is my sincere desire that you will be suc- cessful in choosing a career which will afford you not only a deep feeling of personal satisfac- tion, but also an opportunity to make a worth- while contribution to society. It has been said that, 'tHe who works only with his hands is a laborer, he who works only with his hands and his head is a mechanicg but he who works with his hands and his head and his heart is an artist. I trust that each of you will strive, with all the resources at your command, to be an artist in the vocation of your choice. In behalf of our faculty and board of educa- tion, I extend hearty congratulations and sincere best wishes. W. A. STEWART HARRY E. ASHBAUGH. Principal Permit me to congratulate each of you upon the attainment of a high school diploma, an ac- complishment which has been made possible only through our nation's faith in education as a means of preserving our way of life in all of its democratic applications. Your parents, through their faith, guidance, encouragement and innumerable sacrifices of time, energy and material things, have chartered your course and have proudly observed the pro- gress that you have made during the twelve years of public school education. Everyone who has been concerned with your welfare, realizes that you stand at a new thres- hold of life, which will demand creative and independent thinking. Can you accept the chal- lenge? You can, if you accept the philosophy of Abafzgiam Lincoln, that learning never ends and ac e t his guiding principal which is so briefly expressed, I will study and prepare myself. Someday my chance will come. HARRY E. ASHBAUGH 'WIS'
