As you turn the pages of this Blue Tornado, may you feel you are looking at a photograph album - an album that presents all of the events and personalities of the school year of 1955 - 1956 vividly to you. JxtMe of CantentA Dedication 3 Administration 4 In Memoriam 5 Faculty 7 Seniors 11 Juniors 19 Sophomores 23 Freshmen 27 Grades 31 Activities 47 Athletics 57 Advertisements 65 Mrs. Trainum, the 1956 Tornado is yours. You have devoted your time, energy, skill, and experience to all the Juniprs whom you have had in Homeroom and American History during the past several years. To thank you for your interest and guidance, we, the senior class of 1956 and the annual staff dedicate this Tornado to you. MR. HUGH K. CASSELL Superintendent MR. S. G. STEWART High School Supervisor MISS AVICE ROANE Elementary Supervisor MRS. WALLACE WISEMAN Music Supervisor MR. RALPH DUTTON Supervisor of Buses MR. HENRY BRUBAKER Supervisor of Driver Training MK. O. S. CRUTE Supervisor of Books A The faculty and students record their sorrow at the death of their co-worker and coach, Mr. Paul E. Click. His contribution to our high school, for the two years he was with us, was too great to adequately express in words. The goals that he set for himself and others were high. His dynamic leadership was constantly in evidence and his never tiring efforts served as a challenge to everyone. He stood by his convictions re¬ gardless of pressure like a true disciple, which he was. It is ironic that his life here should end on the highway, since he often referred to one’s living as traveling the highway of life. CROSSING THE BAR Sunset and evening star. And one clear call for me! And may there be no moaning of the bar, When I put out to sea. But such a tide as moving seems asleep. Too full for sound and foam. When that which drew from out the boundless deep Turns again home. Twilight and evening bell. And after that the dark! And may there be no sadness of farewell. When I embark; For though from out our bourne of Time and Place The flood may bear me far, I hope to see my Pilot face to face When 1 have crossed the bar. 5 Alfred Tennyson ( a tCcUa, Mrs. Williams, Mrs. Minter, Mrs. Tyler, Mrs. Johnson. In six practice games they “batted” 500 with 3 wins and 3 losses. There were only 3 regular members from last year’s squad-all of the other team members played varsity ball for the first time this year. Considering this, the boys’ record is fairly good, for in several games they lost by a slim margin. Their lack of ex¬ perience counted against them. They scored 656 points to opponents 773. In regular season play, they won 8 and lost 2; in practice games, won 4 and lost 2; in tournament play won 3, losing 0. Coach Monger and his squad put in many long hours of practice to get to the top, but it was worth aU of the time and effort, for this is the first time in 21 years that Craigs¬ ville Girls’ Basketball Squad has been able to take first place in the District.
