'N KA eaolcha Last year the staff of the HORNET presented a Friend- liest Award. This year the staff wanted to present an a- ward for devoted service. It was not difficult to make the selection. lt was difficult to decide what to call this award. To you, Superintendent F. L. Skaith, we present our Award of Devotion, for your devo- tion to our schools and com- munity that make up R-lll is unquestioned, and your stu- dents and faculty return this devotion. Daily we have watched you work, have seen your love for this work--no greater than your love for your students. With the skill of an expert, the tec- hnic of a master, you have taught us all. How you enjoy teach- ing! You might have been a capable law- 509 yer, an inspiring W0 'XX' ' ' - V0 Yip minister, a compe 61 5 tent businessman. THA'rs MA 50? V' Your choice was Boy! teaching. With the understanding of a friend, you have drawn forth the bewildered gropings of our young hearts and minds and helped us to know ourselves and one another. From your love of learning we have drawn inspiration,for you have a passionate enthusiasm for knowledge. From your fairness.and tolerance and honesty we have learned to respect human personality. From your pride in our achievement we have received satisfaction and comfort. Your source of inspiration is the Master Teacher. With faith unlimited, courage undaunted, you have faced life's pro- blems without flinching. You have inspired in us love and respect for our country and flag. You have called yourself an old maid about school housekeeping, but we have appreciated your sense of order, for is not orderliness the very essence of democracy? Who knows where your influence ends? Where there is a great teacher, there will always be disciples. For every good teacher and student, there is another teacher in the background, one who loves his work and makes of it the fin- est of all the arts. For one who loves his work, who does it with such en- thusiasm and skill that he made of it a glad, proud thing, there will surely come some day from the greatest of all teachers the words Well done, Thou good and faithful servant.
