Valedictorian: Michael Will Class Motto: “Yesterday is just a memory the present will soon be gone, but for us, the future is just beginning. Class Song: If, by Benita Dean If the days become nights. Then we know we have to go on. The years have gone by so fast. We hate to see them pass. If only four years wouldn ' t have come and gone. You would brighten our days once again. But we have to go on. To see the different worlds. And through the years we all have been together. We loved so dear the time we spent. And now we have to say our joyful good-byes. We hate to leave our dear old school. If we could only be here again Through the halls we know so well. The hours would be even more Cherished by our love. And through the years we all have been together. We loved so dear the time we spent. And since the time is now growing nigh, We hate to leave our beloved Cradock High. Class Poem: by Debbie Canady For as long as we can remember. We ' ve never really been on our own. But now as time brings us nearer. You ' ll find that we have grown. Onward we go together, following That special light. That brings us even closer To graduation night. You ' ll find a few of us happy, You ' ll find a few of us sad, You ' ll find a few remembering The good things. And a few remembering the bad. It seems like only yesterday. You could have heard us say. That our education wasn ' t worth anything. Not even worth a dime. But I feel, as I ' m sure the Class of 1977 does, That our years here at Cradock, Weren ' t a waste of time. And so, now as we leave, With memories long gone by, We will always remember thee, March onward CRADOCK HIGH! Portsmouth, Va. 23702 183 At the Rainbow ' s End At the rainbow ' s end. I ' ll give up trying. But only if I ' ve succeeded. When the time comes. I ' ll be there, even if you say I ' m not needed. For people don ' t always say the things they want to. We hide behind our masks and pretend. We don ' t reach out because we ' re too proud, to share ourselves with the rest of the crowd. We measure ourselves against one another. Each is afraid he ' s not as good as another. I might fail, or I might not measure up. Few of us realize everyone is different. Ye t we are all alike. Each of us needs to be loved, wanted, and needed. But most of all, to belong, to be accepted as we are, not as what we ' re expected to be. We need to be able to say. I ' m me and you ' re you. This is my belief, but yours isn ' t wrong. My race is different, but it ' s no better. We are each in our own world. We each have our own goals. One day we ' ll find them. At the rainbow ' s end. by Malia Huddle 184
