They once again put off a successful Homecoming and Thanksgiving Food Drive. At Christmas they had the Children’s Christmas Party, Christmas Door Contest, and Christmas Mail Service. Later in the year they nad a Valentine Mail Service and a “Be Kind to Animals Week.” They had a March of Dimes assembly and a SCA assembly in the spring. Of course the climax of the year was the “Miss Cradock Contest,” which is always a success. The SCA is also responsible for selling coffee and doughnuts before school and conducting student forum. Problems have been encountered in planning attendence at Debate Matches due to the lack of funds. Cradock’s debators were only allocatted the pitifully small sum of $100 to cover all the expences of entry fees, transformation costs, and related expenses of the team for the entire 1973-1974 school year. Our marching band also participated in the Portsmouth Christmas Parade, where they received a first place rating in marching and playing competition. Also for the fall semester, they took part in the University of Richmond Marching Band Contest and Band Day. The band members summarized this trip as one of work, but mostly fun and excitement. Six of our band members made District III Regional Band and nine members the Workshop Band. For the Spring semester, the band held a “Swing Out 74”, and two more parades, which were the “International Azalea Festival” Parade in Norfolk and the Memorial Day Parade in Portsmouth.” In late February, the band participated in the District IV Band Festival. Cradock offers athletic programs in football, basketball, wrestling, tennis, track, and baseball. Cradock sports are coached with one supreme attitude which is “victory is everything.” But sportsmanship also plays a major role in competition. Cradock has earned its share of trophies and its share of bruises due to athletic competition. Yet the bruises don’t hurt as much, as long as the Admiral tradition is upheld. We have put away our books and papers With a feeling of enraptured elation. Now we move on to meet the future, Knowing we can pass the test. Cradock has given us the tools we need; We are as good as the best. We will miss our Alma Mater, And the things we hold so dear. Every time we had a problem, Help was always near. We have walked these halls so many times, As other classes have done. As we prepare to leave this place, We feel our cause was won. The hallways soon will be silent; Our voices will fade away. Even though we leave forever, Our thoughts will always stay. 4 Jaiedictorian : a a toria n : QLn n Smith 171 But yjotliinfy £ an 172 Saced Cdan dSe ( lianc ed, ang.e d Until St Ss Saced y y 173 174 ELe White lieven Jdonor graduates K , si™ s • ft V, ; | m : ft $ m P $(ue (tarnation 175 Senior Alley.
