Its objectives are outlined as establishing democratic behavioral guide lines, critical thought, and toleration of differences. Students are enabled to meet ' political, social, and economic challenges and thereby to deal with the complexities of the modern world. The study of history and government allow the relating of the past to the present; also provided are the basis for a personal sense of citizenship, civic-mindedness, and the realization of responsibilities along with privileges.
