Injuries formed the basis and cause for a poor court season: however, the Cradock quint ended the season with seven victories. The Maroon and Gold played out one of the toughest schedules in basketball history. Games with Newport News, 1'lampton, W'ilson, South Norfolk, and Suffolk loomed high. Several first rank lmasketball threats were developed through this strenuous cage season. Billy Cooper, Arnie Barrow and Buddv Lewis soumletl warning calls on the hardwood. All first year talent, this trio should give the 1940 edition ofthe Admiral cage squad a Hying start. Big Jim Remington and Buddy Jenson offered the spark for this season's team. Remington is returning to the court next season, while Jenson is finishing up an illustrious athletic career when he graduates this year. Fielder BASEBALL-1938 PIRITS loomed high in the spring of 1938 when the call for baseball was sounded. Many boys turned out to form :I team which all schools feared. Led by Red Brown, Sandy Melvin and Buddy Jenson, the Admirals came out above average at the end of the season. The Maroon :Incl Gold won six, tied one and lost three out of il schedule of ten games. The hard-hitting Admirals kept the team out of many tough spots. The reserve pitching stuff dealt the hardest blow, but the quick, SLIFS-FITS Gelding kept the opponents ut il safe distance.
