CLASS HISTORY In the fall of 1943, we made our first appearance in school. Fifty- very proud youngsters gazed at the bigness of the school and the mighty upper Classmen. Slowly we mounted the ladder step by step until we graduated into high school. Then our most enjoyable school days really began. There were thir¬ ty-two members in our Freshman Class, and we soon got into the swing of high school life under the watchful eye of Mr. Morrow. Martha Mathews was chosen as President. Before we knew it the year was completed, and we started our second year in high school as wise sophomores. With Claudia Crawford as class president and Mr. Ross as adviser, we began to get ready for our Junior year. After a short vacation we returned as Juniors with a lot of impor¬ tant events looming before us. We must have been a headache to the teach¬ ers as we were more interested in the big social events, as the junior- senior banquet, than in our studies. Also, class rings had to be ordered and the class play, Aunt Samanthy Rules the Roost, had to be given. Mr. Nesbittwas assigned the responsibility of guiding the boys and Mrs. No¬ land, the girls. Steven Walker was selected to lead the class during this important year. Our banquet was held, with the theme Good Luck. All who attended it will long remember this grand event. Then came the eventful August of 1954, and we were at last dignified Seniors with Mr. McElroy as our advisor. Martha Mathews was elected to guide us through our final year with Johnny Crawford, vice president, to assist her. The publication of the school paper and annual, the class play, the selection of invitations, and graduation preparations were the main factors standing before us and our journey ' s end. The junior-senior banquet given in our honor was wonderful, and it was really heart-warming to be honored in this way. Graduation day came swiftly by, and we knew that a mysterious por¬ tion of life, the future, was before us. We hope that we can make a greater history than this through our deeds in the future.
