It was a memorable occasion. We thought we were doing something great until some Seniors strolled into the room where Mr. Muncie, our sponsor was urolling us. These Seniors let us know that we were mere Yearlings and as such must conform to certain rules of conduct and informed us that we would be initiated in a few days. They urged us to be very studious and to act intelligent whether we were or not. We were somewhat awed by their admonitions and began to wonder whether this was really to be the great life we had looked forward .to for so long. These w.re the yearlings who started as charter members of the class of 52. Juno Alder son, Caries Arnett, George Cowger, Cecil Erwin, Johnny Flaseh, Edward Ford, Margaret Hunt, Neila Mast, Charles McCaney, J.D, Longan, Betty °ark. Bob Sexton, O.K. Shell- Loretta Silvws, Herty Smith. Opal Stafford Colleen Stew- art, Harry Mikesell,Dee Higgins, Hazel Cantrell, and Beulah Majors. To these were added Glenrida Edwards. Mr. Muncie made a very capable sponsor. The subjects we took were: English, Science, Algebra, Home Ec., for the girls, -nd Agriculture for the boys. Our teachers were: Mrs. Brown,Mrs. Hitt,Miss Nay,and Mr. Muncie. Our activities were baseball and basketball for the boys, and softball and basketball for the girls. One of our girls, Opal Stafford and one of our boys, Harry Mikesell, made the respective basketball squads although none of them lettered. Honors that came our way were not many but they were good ones. Margaret Hunt was elected Annual Queen and four of our class, June Alderson. Neila Mast,Loretta Silvers, and Betty Park made the State Honor Roll. Our social affairs consisted of two class parties plus a very special party given us by the Seniors after a very rough day of Initiation. We were not pretty specimens after that marching and we were forced to go in the clothes we were wearing, but we were allowed to dress for the party. The last dav of M y fl+9 found us much more mature and in our own weigh? equal to the unper classmen. We were thrilled when we re- ceived our grade slips proving beyond a doubt that we were no longer YEARLINGS . Rev. Grubb of the Methodist Church preached the sermon. His topic was Making the Right Decisions . We left on our Senior trip Sunday afternoon. We visited Sammy Lane Resort on Lake Taneycomo, Branson, Mo., Lake of the Cherokees at Langley, Okla., and the Will Rogers Memorial, Claremore, Okla. We returned on May 8th and that evening at 8 o'clock we marched down the aisle to receive our diplomas—the Bright Victory we had sought so long. Thus ends the final volume of the history of the Class of '52. CLASS PROPHECY As the Senior grads' of 1952 hold their class reunion at Coney Island we find we have man, successful oeople. George Cowger has become a representative for .the state of Texas, in Congress while Cecil Erwin has taken over Durgan's poker palace in Coyle. Herb Smith and Max Cope have ust returned from the Far East, where Max is a jet-pilot with 1 + ducks °nd 2 squadron leaders to his credit and Herb has taken over Ridgeway's command. Someone kept shooting the officer just above him, Betty Ruth Park has just recently been crowned Miss America. We also have another famous personage with us, Bob Sexton who runs a successful gambling casino in Reno. Going on down the list of -lumni, we discover Tiny Bill Alderson, Cham- pion Lady Wrestler featured on W.K.Y.-TV. Also on our list of re- nowned athletes we find Charles (Swifty) lieCarney, star fullback for the famed Cleveland Browns. Among the wealthy socialites is Colleen Stewart. who married multi-millionaire, John Doe. Of the few ex- seniors who continued their education we see Opal Stafford. an outstanding student attending West Point, and Charles Arnett, a graduate of Vassar. Edw-rd Ford, we find, has finally settled down on a big ranch in Texas and is raising little Herefords. Included in these successful farmers, is Johnny Fla.sch,, who holds World's Champion prize for his Banty Rooster. Neila iiast has her own base- ball team, short stoo and all. Visiting here from Chicago is the editor of the famous Chicago Tribune , Maggie Hunt. Visiting also with us we discover J.D. Longan (Paw) who is currently starred in the Broadway hit, Paw Comes Home . O.K. Shellhammer. artist who paints the lovely Esquire calendars is here today. The owner of Loretts's Club 29 , voted the most frequently raided night-club in New York, is Loretta (Slick) Silvers. After hearing our class pro- phecy (the Seniors of '52,) we know that the Class of '53 will have a difficult time trying to attain our high standards. )UR LAST WILL AUD TFST'MENT V?e, the Senior Class of the High School of Covie, of the County of Logan, and State of Oklahoma, being indisputable cf sound and disposing mind and memory and about to pass out of existence, do make, publish and declare this to be our last will and testament hereby revoking any and all former wills by us at any time hereto- fore, made: We, The Senior Class leave our ability to rule the roost to the Sophomore Class because they know the proper way due to our teach- ing.
