? To one whose loyalty and faithfulness are familiar to a host of former students and friends; to one whose love and sympathy has endeared her to all her students; to one who had a big part in shaping the ideals and characters of seven of the twelve of us who have attempted to make this annual; and to one whom we hope will continue to be a part of this school and this community for many years to come— We the staff of the BLUEJACKET for 1950 dedicate this ann- ual to Miss Ruth Henthorn, principal of the Coyle Grade School and a teacher in this system for the past 21 years. f ' •f. s :-.••• v •yVA v.„ u v . HIGHLIGHTS Plane Smith's grand champion steer at the Logan County Spring Livestock show was the high point of success for the Coyle F. F. A. during the school year 19 9-1950. Another proud moment was when the boys from Coyle placed fourth out of crty teams au the annual State Soil Judging Contest at Hedplains Experiment Station, Guthrie. At the same contest Eill Whitmore, F.F.A. secretary placed second in competition with more than +00 individuals. At the couty far in ohe fall of 19 9 our boys received seven purple grand champ- r awards. Besides these there were many entries in the tor three places of their own classes. In the purple wore Charies iCownoy v.ith his Milking Shorthorn heifer, a Duroc gile, and a junior Dune bear; Elane Smith with his Hereford steer, Hereford cow, a pc ; of chickens, and an individual hen; and Wendell Nobbe with his grand champion Holstein heifer. Coyle F.F.A. boys brought bacl£ a total of 38 ribbonssfrom the county fair. Spring Livestock Show time brought fourth still more winn- ings. Elane Smith's Hereford was grand champion steer of the en- tire county show, George Cowger's Duroc barrow was champion of his breed, Charles Downey showed the champion Duroc gilt, and Wendell Nobbe again placed grand champion with his Holstein heifer. F.F.A. boys performed many services for the community during tie year. Some of these included vacinating livestock, testing milk, pruning fruit trees, testing soil, and others. In addition to class room and on the farm training in var- ious phases of Agriculture, Coyle Boys enrolled in Vocational A r'culture gained actual experience in carpentary, plumbing, c't'trical wiring, and concrete work while helping to complete ti.o n i: Agriculture building. First, to the faculty we leave the Junior Class (Egad not that). To the members of the Junior Class, the sincerest hope and wishes that some day they will be great-minded, distinguish- ed, intelligent and noble as the Senior Class of 1950. To the Sophmores wo leave all broken window panes and broken ciricid.x s • To the Freshmen, the right to carve their initials on their desks as well as some of the members of the school board. Betty Coker wills her four years in the office to Don Carnes, (he spends most of his time there any way). Bonnie Smith wills her height to Bonnie Bailey so she can play basketball, Freddie Carnes wills his dearest girl friend (Earl Watkins) to anyone who wants him and his grades to Bill Whitmore. Keith Smalley wills his ability to remain true to one girl friend tc Charles Downey and Edward Ford. Wendell Nobbe wills his Clark Gable acting ability to Charles Arnett. Jessie Durgan wills her affections for Mr. Gregory to Betty Flynt. Mildred Bucke wills her excellent health and appetite to Opal Stafford and Mary Dry. Mary Williams wills her ability to sing to George Cowger and Cecil Erwin. Wilma Franklin wills her smile to Billie June to replace her frown. Helen Hamilton wills her ability to get along with study hall teachers to Donna Davis, Ruth Majors wills her quiet disposition to Bentie Sorrels and DeWaync Wagoner—they'll probably need it too. Cloris Trorapler wills her typing ability to JoAnn. Carol Freudenberger wills her love for horses to Charlene Lenderson and her height to Bob Sherman. To those, the heirs we leave the sincere hope that you will a u these properties to your best ability. S i gned rr a uJ ) itnesses Mtn sses a Signed and sealed before me this day of May, 1950.
