The Battler Cowpens High School Cowpens, S.C. 29330 Volume XXX Here we present to you, from beginning to end. The Last Battler 2 TH ... students ... faculty . .. administration ... community all of this was Cowpens High School. This is what it was, and what it will always be in the minds of those who attended it. CHS was not a building but was the people which it contained. CHS is. .. . . . what those people made it. So look into the future and stick to- gether, helping one another, shar- ing with each other, and striving for the best in whatever it may be wherever you are. LR5T... This year CHS had some old things that existed from years past and will remain in the years to come; things such as the ballgames, running in the hall, breaking in the lunch line, finding an empty comer where no one will be look- ing, tardies, and a teachers pad- dle. 7 BOTTLER CHS also had some new fea- tures which 1975-76 students will remember. Things such as a new smoking area and policy, a more effective tardy law enforced by a new face everyone knows as Coach Rich, and much more. A new flag is now flying. We know it as the Cowpens flag. It was presented to the school and now flies daily with the others. Also new was the lunch room tables and chairs, the remod- eled office, chess games, and the new seating arrangments for assem- blies. Many new memories were also made that will never be for- gotten, but, they're the last mem- ories we'll ever make at CHS. 8 And ... It All Started in the Summer of ’75 While Miss Stephens made out the schedules and Mrs. Williams typed them up, Mrs. Jones took care of the finances and Mrs. Brown filed all records. Outside die foot- ball team and cheerleaders were hard at work practicing for a new season. The color guard in shorts twirled to die band music. The annual and Moo staffs were busy getting ads and going to work- shops, while the student council planned for the new year. 11 . . . the first appearances were by students from other schools who came to register and students who wanted to have their sched- ules changed. Then the hustle and bustle started when the seventh graders came on Wednesday, Aug- ust 20. On Thursday CHS came to life again with the spirit of '76. This spirit was the love and friend- ship between everyone. All excited everyone was ready to start another year of learning and fun. The stu- dents knew that there were many exciting moments ahead. .. . like a seventh grader learning how to operate the locks, or a past jun- ior (now a Senior) who can smile about the few privileges. 13 14 THAT WE MADE OURS Cowpens High School has be- come a part of us-the students, teachers, administrators, the staffs, the entire community. We are its life its entire existence. Our physical presence everyday enables it to function. We give CHS purpose and meaning. The years spent at CHS are ours; no one else can claim them. The memories of how we experienced and lived through the fun, work, and defeats will always be ours. How our talents, time, and minds were put into CHS will always stand out as accomplishments of our CHS years. We have made Cowpens High become an exten- sion and out-growth of ourselves. Don't ever forget this because, we, the people of CHS, have made it a part of us. 16 Our Time Has Come Mark Arthur Kay Burrell Homeroom Representatives: Terri Duckett, Tal Henry, Steve Burrell, Teresa Easier. 19 Can You Believe It? 20 i We Are Leaving Going Our Separate Ways but . . . We may now say goodbye to Cowpens High but we say it as a wisdom filled Senior Class. As we look back through the past few years, we can remember all the good and bad times we have shared together. As we leave Cow- pens High, we leave with sorrow and joy. We leave with sorrow because we hate to leave our friends and the good times we've shared. We leave with joy be- cause we will be moving on to higher goals in our lives. We, the LAST GRADUATING CLASS of CHS, may also be proud to say that the Spirit of '76 will live FOREVER! 36 Senior Directory A Armer, Robert Transfer Arthur, Mark Sr. Beta,Jr. Beta,Baseball, Jr. High Basketball, Sr. High Basketball, Jr. High Football,Block C,Hall Of Fame, Jr. Marshall, Who’s Who Among American High School Students Bible, Anita Mighty Moo, Student Council,Class Officer,Home- room Officer, Sr. Beta,Jr. Beta,French, Ink Pads, Home- coming Candidate,Cheerleader,Block C, Senior Su- perlative-Most Likely To Succeed, Miss Cowpens Bi- centennial Candidate, Miss Battler 17j Brooks pjC ay irus,Baseball,Jr. High Football, Jr. High Basketball, digh Football-offensive lineman of the yeartBk ck BurreltjK' y Ink Pads 5 Burrell, Steve Student Council,Homeroom Officer,Class Officer,Li- brary Worker, Visual Aid,Bus Driver,French,Chorus, Baseball-All Conf.
