Congratulations to The Battler staff. You have worked diligently and faithfully to make available to us this fine yearbook and many will cherish its pages through the years. Just a thought to leave with each of you: Nothing left loose ever accomplishes much. No horse goes anywhere until he is harnessed. No gas ever drives a car until it is confined in the tank. No river is useful for power and light until it is channeled prop- erly. No life ever accomplishes much until it is disciplined and dedicated to a great cause or goal. Has your life been disciplined? My prayer is that it has. and that the world will be made better by your having succeeded in reaching them.

R. D. ROSS This fine issue of The Battler portrays the best in Cowpens High School. The staff and sponsors are to be congratulated on a difficult task well done. In the years to come this book will become more meaningful to each student because it will be a tangible link with the past--the past spent in anticipation of the future. Only in retrospect will you come to fully appreciate this school, its faculty, and its influence. It is my earnest hope and prayer that this school has prepared and will con- tinue to prepare each of you to meet the important tomorrows of your life with confidence born of adequate preparation.
