X X its ,V X XX X -wt 'Z' Na tionals Next The Tiger Tennis team appeared head- ed for a season unmatched by any other CCCC athletic team. With Coach Watters at the head position and the players he had assembled the team felt they had a good chance to take the state championship and take it they did. Playing in number one position on the team was Bill Marsh, reigning state champion. Behind Marsh is Paul Wal- dren from Ponca City, Jerry Clugston another freshman, comes next. Chris Hill follows Clugston, next is sopho- more Randy Moore playing in sixth position was Joe Goodson. With play continuing on May 6th the Tiger Tennis team proceeded to domi- nate their opponents, en-route to a complete sweep of all finals matches. Thus for the fourth straight year Cow- ley County had successfully won the Kansas Jayhawk Junior College Tour- nament, which qualifies them for The National Jr. Collete Tournament, in Ocala, Florida. Aggressive play and superb control sparked the Cowley County tennis team. Waldren swept his match 6-2, 6-4. Jerry Clugston won 6-1, 5-7, 6-0. Chris Hill controlled his oppo- nent 6-3, 6-3, Bill Marsh disposed of Mirt 6-1, 6-1. .sif- N-..,,Nm 30
