CCCC is highlighted by participating in the annual Arkalalah parade. Arkalalah time again Arkalalah an annual event of Arkansas City, Kansas finds thousands of people rushing into the city to enjoy the two hour parade, carnival events, pancake feast, Coronation ceremonies, free side- walk dances and a bonanza of fun for everyone. Highlights of the event is the crowning of Queen Alalah. The Queen is selected from the girls of the sophomore class of CCCC. The entrants are limited from twenty to ten, ten to five and finally the number one girl who is crowned as Queen Alalah with the job of ruling over the entire Arkalalah festival. Make that deadline! The Tiger Tales was written and edit- ed by students enrolled in the publica- tions classes. It was their goal to pro- vide a free and open means of self-ex- pression for the members of the CCCC community. A new approach was taken with more in-depth reporting, as issues of general interest and concern to the college were investigated. Owen Mooney served as editor for the first semester, Jeri Lyn Werneke took over the helm of the student news- paper the second semester. Other members of staff were Arvene Dema- ree, circulation manager, Mike Muir, advertizing manager, Philip Brown, photographer, and writers Pam Archer, Ron Beavers, Carol Cadwell, Debie Fair, Randy Finuf, Melvin Caswell, Jim Hartman, Gary Smith, Ann Shanks, Kent Smith and Deborah Storey. The Tiger yearbook modified tradi- tion by changing to a fall-delivery book in order to give a more complete cover- age ofthe year. CCCC drama productions maintains the tradition of past years by putting on two big shows, one each semester. The first semester offering was Ten Nights in a Barroomf' a melodrama with mu- sic based on a genuine Nineteenth Cen- tury melodrama depicting the evils of the demon rum. The second semester production, a night of one-acts, saw Rinse the Blood Off My Toga, Sec- ond Best Bed, and Gammer Gurtonls Needle is an adaptation of the second oldest play in the English 1 language.
