The Winter Sports Homecoming was held january 22, 1971 with the Tigers challenging the Dodge City Conquistadors. Unfortunately the Tigers were defeated 83-71. During halftime Nan Johnston, escorted by Dennis Schmidt, was crowned. Following the basketball game, a dance was held in the junior College auditorium. S The six candidates for homecoming queen were, LEFT TO RIGHT, Pam Hope, Vicki Shea, queen Nan Johnston, Sherry Andrews, Mary Blatchford and janet Weston. Nan Johnston was crowned queen during halftime. 'Q N I 13 Students danced to the music of the Amplified Heat at Nan johnson and her escort Dennis Schmidt. the homecoming dance.

I Plans Made For New Iuco During january great efforts were made by the townspeople, stu dents, and administration to help pass the bond issue on February 2 for the building of a new junior Col lege north of Arkansas City on Radio Lane and 15th Street. nnual Watermelon Fee Is Held On September 3 the annual watermelon feed was held in the faculty parking lot. The idea for such an occasion arose several years ago when Dr. johnson, former dean of the college, felt that an activity was needed to help new students get acquainted. Over one hundred students and faculty members attended the social event. Unfor- tunately, rain forced everyone to tak shelter in the machine shop. Board members met january 18 to discuss the bond issue. Janis Wood dgnated blogd, C C C C S Nurses aid the students. The Red Cross Blood mobile visited Tri- CIC on 1970. The assigned quota of 85 pints was exceeded with a total donation of 114 were designated for john .gg ss
