Programs consist of outside speakers, business meetings, field trips, and money-making projects. Members partici- pated in a fall workshop on McPherson college campus where they met with chapter members from colleges all over Kansas to discuss mutual campus and chapter problems. In the spring local chapter members met with other college chapter members again, and with members of the Kansas Home Economics Association for a two-day series of meet- ings on the Kansas State University campus at Manhattan in November. A return visit was made to CCCJC campus in the spring when they were entertained with a tea. The 1969 Tiger Football Squad returned only eight lettermen and was dependent on the incoming freshmen for much support. Because of this inexperience, the first half of the season was excit- ing but produced only two victories in five games. However, the experiences gained by the fresh- men and with good leadership provided by the sophomores in the first five games the Tigers won three of the last four games. Two of these teams were Nationally ranked during the season. This included a victory over, always tough , Goffeyville and then the following week a big upset vic- tory over the Highland Scotties. Highland had been Nationally ranked and were a powerful team but the Tigers fought from behind to win 34 to 30. The most exciting game of the season was played at lndependence against the third nationally ranked team the Tigers faced in 1969. The Pi- rates were in second place in the Kansas Jayhawk juGo Conference and needed a victory in the last conference game to nail it down. The Tigers scored the first three times they had the ball to take a 21 to 14 halftime lead. The Tigers scored again on the first series of the second half and were leading 28 to 14 going into the fourth quarter. The Pirates showed their great speed and scoring ability by scoring three touchdowns in the fourth quarter to take a 33 to 28 lead with just over two minutes left in the game. With a 3rd and 29 situation on their own 21 yard line the Ti- gers scored on a 79 yard pass play from Ray Harding to john Woodworth which ended with Wood- worth latteraling to joe Wilson on the 10 yard line and Wilson going in with the winning touchdown. Mike Sobba added the extra point for a 35 to 33 victory. 44 ' M Fx J. Woodworth, 2 yrs. , leading scorer, 5th lead ing pass receiver in na- tion, All-Conference.
