The Tiger Action Club, made up of enthusiastic Tiger fans, and sponsored by a very ener- getic Mrs. Bridges, is a new organization this year. Their main purpose and interest is to promote school spirit at pep assem- blies, sports events, and other school functions. Among their projects for the year was the annual parents' night. TAC took charge of the half-time ceremonies and also presided at the reception held for the parents of the football boys. Another project was the making of the College float for the Arkalalah parade. Many long hours of hard Work were needed to complete the beautiful float, and the finished product represented our school Well. The club helped with pep assemblies and donated their services to help with the homecoming ceremonies and dances . ln future years, it is hoped that interest will grow and TAC Will become a large and spirited organization. :Aw V30-E mf, Q 'fx ' ' - - X ' x X-1 X ' . ff FOOTBALL an ,lays 1 ' 6 3'ilil3735i .ir . 51, FRONT ROW, left to right: jerry Koger, Mel Shanks, Kent Myer, Bill Pickering, Bill Larue, jim Reed, Carrah lbach, Jim Squires, Bill McKnight, Maurice Dewberry, Coach Cleveland. Although they were few, the Garden City 19 26 sophomores provided valuable leadership which proved to Hutchinson 7 22 he a main factor in the four games they won. The lack of Tonkawa 21 7 experience showed early in the season. The Tigers lost El Dorado 27 13 their first three games, but then won four of their last Coffeyville 20 41 seven to end up with a respectable record. TIGERS TAKE 3rd IN WESTERN CONFERENCE The 1966-67 basketball squad, coached by Del Heidebrecht and assistant coach Ben Cleveland, practiced many faithful hours to produce a spirited ball club. Loyal fans cheered them on to numerous victories. The Tigers placed third in Western Conference with losses to Pratt, Dodge, and two to Hutch. Conference play stood at 6 wins and 4 losses while overall games were 12 wins and 14 losses. Coach Heidebrecht's boys played a brilliant game against Pratt, their-first competition in regionals, winning 87-69. They returned the following night to take on Dodge, but dropped the game to the Conqs 88-80. The Tigers found themselves trailing as much as 12 in the first half and even 15 in the second: however, they came within 1 point of tying up the score during the second half. Much of this can be credited to the outstanding efforts of freshman cager, Steve Minson, of Valley Center who scored only 2 points in the first half, but hit for 25 dur- ing the second. Leroy johnson was second with 23 points and Charles jones led rebounders bringing down 15. There were several outstanding Tigers worthy of recognition: sophomore Leroy johnson was leading scorer with an overall average of 18 .65 he took conference honors with a 21.8 average per game. His high game of the season was 33 points turned in against Pratt. johnson was also the team's leading rebounder and had the best free-throw percentage. Following closely in the rebound department was sophomore Charles jonesg he averaged 11.1 points in conference play. The only other double figure man was 5-8 guard Steve Minson who came on very strong in the latter part of conference play and finished with a 10. 8 average. The best field goal percentage shooter was sophomore Randy Moore. He finished with a 6.3 average and was instrumental in many Tiger victories. 52 9 ff 8 Si! ', AQ.
