T j __ , ± V Student Council Makes Waves The 1987-86 Student Council, aided by sponsor Greg Gront, wos involved In many activities this year. This post yeor wos one of the most memorable yeors ever. The group thought long and hard for octivities thot would be fun for the student body ond also serve o purpose. One example of this is the Christmas Donee the Student Council held on December 21. 1987. The S.C put in long hours to moke the donee o success. The money raised from the donee went to the Community Action Group to help buy Christmas presents for needy families Another activity thot the S.C. wos involved in was the Blood Drive held ot school this yeor. Many faculty ond students who were 17 ond older gave blood to help those who might need blood transfusions. The Blood Drive wos o mojor success ond the omount of blood collected wos doubled. You participate in concerts, the Turkey Run Chorus Fesrivol where you learn specific songs and perform them with oreo schools, Spring Show, and other organized performances. Any girl or boy is eligible to try out for Swing Choir. It consists of various songs ond donees performed of the request of the public. Miss Cole lets off a little steam. Students on the odvonced levels were encouraged to do independent study in o medium they wonted to explore. Many students were given jobs which come from the school or the community. Mrs. Hunter, orf instructor, stated, ‘This gives the student o chonce to see if his orf skills ore marketable, ond provides o woy for him to apply the skills learned. Sports 61 Tennis Team Gains First Winning Record This year was only the second season for girls tennis, bur they ended it with o winning record of 9-7, and went 2-3 in the conference. Most Valuable Player award went to Junior Alison Engle. The Most Improved Player award went to freshman 5o-roh Wright, ond Sophomore Kathy Ashton won the Sportsmanship Award. The setting is the compound of the 4077 Mobile Army Surgical Hospital in Korea. The time of this ploy is o period of many months during the Korean conflict. The ploy centers around the lives of doctors ond nurses of the 4077th. It has o main focus on Howkeye and Duke ond their attempts to get out of the ormy and to help a young Korean boy, Ho Jon. get on education in the U.5. In one of the most exciting scenes the medical troop performs o fronkenstein operation on the suicidal Wolf, in hopes that he will come out of his depression. Events 103 A Broadway Melody This year's 1988 Spring Show A Broadway Melody'’ was a success. Many acrs and great talents were displayed throughout the show. Taking only two weeks to prepare, we were on a busy schedule. Practices went after school a half hour for each act you were in. Most of the songs and acts performed were up and entertaining. The band played in between acts and kept the audience going with all kinds of music. Junior Ploy On March 11th and 12rh the Junior doss performed the dromo comedy ploy Prime Time Crime. The setting is o mansion colled Shropshire Manor. The problems or the mansion start when o phantom arrives. The Phantom begins killing people off one by one. The victims ore the heirs of the family fortune. The Shropshires decide they need help in catching the Phantom so they hire detectives. These detectives each hove their own ideas for catching the Phantom, some more effective than others. They finally catch the Phantom ot o costume party ond it turns our the Butler did it so his daughter could inherit the fortune without the problems from others.
