SCHOOL LIFE Each person has something special about them and student life shows how they display that something special! New Wave hair cuts, (short hair with hair cut out around the ears leaving little “sideburns”) were worn by both guys and girls. This cut showed off girls’ bright and wild earrings, and revealed a few pierced ears amongst the boys. OP (Ocean Pacific) T-shirts and other tees of that style were worn by many, also Ralph Lauren polo shirts. Buttons with a variety of sayings were worn everywhere, long ties were the girls’ new thing, and designer jeans still walked the halls. Dancers weren’t the only ones to wear leg warmers this year and many times girls donned a mini shirt with them. Ruffled tops for girls and pullover sweaters for guys were worn for a more dressy look, while sweats were the new casual look! Rock music is still popular and some of the groups and soloists who were quite big were John Cougar, Journey, Michael Jackson, and Men At Work. The song “Valley Girl” written and sung by Frank Zappa and his daughter Moon Unit gave us a San Fernando Valley lingo that was very catchy! Top: Could that be something other than a business call?
