On every level and involving everyone, whether in competition or complacency, by teams or by individuals, in beauty, in speed, in endurance, in voice, and in spirit, the sports approximate a common denominator for all of us. Those who choose to pay the price of long, hard hours of practice and discipline are few The best of these bask in public acclaim, but they are the first to pass praises along to teammates whose careers are less glamorous The recognition of this brotherhood enables the best aspects of athletics to be appreciated by competitors and spectators. Regardless of willful association with the athletic programs of CHS, everyone is involved. Because the jerseys, sweaters, and jackets carry the Trojan C, all those who indentify with Covington in any fashion share in the successes and failures, the pride and humility of our sports. HOMECOMING Hours seemed but minutes, as many of us awaited the arrival of our final Homecoming. For some of us, it came too soon and left too quickly. Plans for this traditional event commenced almost as soon as the beginning of the new school year. Classmates whispered their float ideas, worried about which queen candidate their boyfriends would get to kiss, and made preparations for the parade and dance. The halls of CHS literally tingled with excitement as the day drew nearer.
