Students scurrying to class, and teachers conversing on various subjects, are some of the familiar sights around the school. But in reality the halls of Covington are the pages on which the students therein record the memories of their brief encounter with the bonds of education. In future years these pages will warm the heart and bring tears to the eyes of those who care to remember. 2 3 Students Take Break Seniors work hard toward games and other activities. Adding to the sounds of CHS. is the pep band, who bolsters the swinging spirit of the Trojans. 5 Academics Challenge Students scurry to next class by ring of bell. 6 7 Going steady is still fashionable at CHS. Cheerleaders await Homecoming game with excited smiles. WE WANT VICTORY! This was the cry raised by the large number of Trojan fans that filled the city park on a rainy October evening. The scene was that of a huge pep rally, sponsored by the Boosters Club, that touched off the week of our homecoming festivities. Besides burning the Ramblers in effigy and cheering for the Trojans, many hours were spent laboring over the floats to be entered in the parade on Friday night. Students of the high school labored over crepe paper, kleenexes, and spray paint, each sincere in his desire to help create the winning float. Strutting majestically the marching Trojans prepare for the pre-game festivities. At final pep session before the game team members give their views of the upcoming game. 14 Marjorie Warnick, '66 Homecoming Queen's Reign ends. Eligible students are those in grades nine through twelve, who have achieved grades of all A's and one B in their solid subjects. The majority of the members of the Trojan Honor Club is working toward an ac- ademic diploma, which is the hardest academic curriculum at CHS. These honor students have each received a Trojan honor jacket and chevrons for their accomplishments throughout their school years. Sponsors, Miss Schwinand, Mr. Brown have encouraged these students and all students to apply themselves to academic challenges. ROW 1: M. Allen, P. Jones, J. Miller, B. Glover, J. Glover, C. Co-Captain Jack Thorne Co-Captain GET TOUGH BIG C , was the yell heard ringing through the halls of good old CHS at the beginning of the school year. This yell was of course for the Trojans of the gridiron. After a disappointing beginning of three losses the backers of the Trojans began to lose interest. But after their slow beginning the Trojans showed a sign of life and won their first two road games against Seeger and Turkey Run. The Trojan fans began to change their tune when they saw the players begin to work as a unit. Next came the Homecoming with Attica Red Tamblers that probed to be a disappointing loss even though the Trojans gave the undefeated Ramblers a run for their money. After losing their next two ball games, the players began showing a desire to win and ended the season with two wins. The Trojans ended up being one of the most respected teams in Indiana. Coach Rater sure has his eyes on these boys. 69 Faculty Makes Valiant Effort Against Seniors The Feeble Faculty fought hard to beat the sizzling seniors but were unmercifully defeated by the younger and more able boys. The game was presented by the Citizen's Scholarship Foundation as a means to raise money to grant scholarships to graduating seniors. Track Teams Shows Future Potential The 1968 track season was primarily a building year! according to Coach Larry Sager. After losing three top runners from the previous season the Trojans had to depend mainly on their superiority in field events. Although no one person in particular showed any outstanding running talent the entire squad showed plenty of enthusiasm, determination, and desire. In a few short years the team, which now consists mainly of underclassmen, should be a formidable contender on the cinders against anyone and everyone. 82 Roger Bowling gets off to an early lead in 2-mile . . . and wins pulling away. Coach Sager checks winning time in the low hurdles. Coach Rater and Jr. High Track Team. 83 Goals A re Won by Teamwork SPORTS HIT all seasons of the year, and baseball is a favorite during the summer. CHS has a team that looks forward to all games, even that one under that hot sunshine. Coached by Mr. Rater the boys work and practice diligently and with much enthusiasm. Game time shows the hard work each and every team member has put forth. A game is not won by one outstanding player. It's won by the boys working together to achieve their goal.
