Vocational Training Provides Experience The Agricultural department of Covington High School was greatly expanded this year by a greenhouse constructed by the Agricultural students. The Industrial Arts Department offers vital training in many areas of shop work. With the fine supervision of Mr. Sims and Mr. Certain, the vocational courses have provided students with basic skills which lead to future job opportunities. Mr. Sims displays geranium plants growing in the new greenhouse. Mr. Certain explains the function of an internal combustion engine. 18

Mrs. Gustafson shows Diane Gritten how to line a suit. Mrs. Abernathey gives students a background in the history of art. Art Takes Many Forms—Useful and Enjoyable Home Economics prepares girls for their future roles as dresses with proper accessories. Girls receive hints for homemakers. Enthusiastic seamstresses learn to make adding beauty and culture to their own homes as well their own clothes and becoming ways of wearing these as practice in preparing tasty, nutritious meals.
