Experiments, labs, and research are the three big words in our science classes, kindling interest in the stu- dents as they select their science courses. Eighth graders choose between IPS science and earth science. Tenth graders are required to explore biology, and eleventh graders get a swing at chemistry. Physics is of- fered to the seniors who wish to delve into advanced science. No matter what the course, the students learn to speak the science “lingo” and to operate the lab equipment. Veterans Mr. Robertson and Mr. Somers welcomed Mr. Kidder, Mr. Ogden, and Mr. Phillips to the Sci- ence Department. These five men teach CHS what science is all about. This Way to History The Social Studies Department has the most varied program at CHS. World geography, civics, world history, U.S. history, government, and eco- nomics are the courses offered to each student. Some of these subjects are required, but a well se- lected curriculum gives the student a chance at them all. He can read about the exciting days of Washington in U.S. history or compare varied cultures in world history and geography. A history lover may want to explore the economic world around him or the detailed workings of his govern- ment. It is the dream of every youth one day to be involved in the workings of the democratic process, and through our History Department he learns what reponsibilities will be placed on his shoulders. He soon finds out that a thorough knowledge of history is needed to make his society a better place in which to live. Cecilroy J.
