CLASS HISTORY N September, I934, the class of '38 set out on an extended camera survey of high school life. The main part of our survey was in the Museum of Knowl- edge. As we entered its doors, we were given Opportunity Cameras with a four-year exposure and a roll of Mental Film for each subject we intended to photograph. The first year of exposure resulted in a jumbled collection of pictures, and a.i,I look through my album, the first picture I see is one that now is treasured above all others, that of Mr. Curfman. On the faculty pages, several changes have been made, but our pictures still remain clear and unblurred. Here is a picture of a sign post saying Failure on one side and Success on the other. That must be Vocational Guidance. Next to it is a picture framed in X'sg that's Algebra. What on earth is this picture? Oh! I remember now. We dropped some acid on it in the Science room but you can still see the test tubes and Miss Thomas. Ah, here is one of Miss Van Lear-I mean Mrs. Curfman-who taught us English. Surely this picture of Treasure Island was not taken by us, but I remember now that we went there with our cameras on a Literature excursion. Here's a whole page of blurred pictures-must have been from overexposure. It says Sophomore Year at the top of the page. That was the year our heads were so big we couldn't focus the camera correctly. Some of us even dropped our cameras, as well as I remember. I-lere's a lovely picture. on the next page, named Shadow and Substance. It's the junior-Senior Prom, of course. The year I937-38 marked the culmination of our tour. That year was to be the year that we were to take the best pictures, for by then we should have learned how to use our cameras and how to select the right subjects. We evidently proved this well because these last few pages of my album are filled with pictures. There's one of our superintendent, Mr. Bennett, who came to Covington the year we were seniors. All these pictures of trophies certainly show our athletic prowess. Memory shots of our parties and social gatherings will not be affected by the years because a special kind of Personality Developer was used in printing the pictures. The final fixing bath for all our pictures was commencement. At the gradua- tion exercises, we were given new Life Cameras and the equipment to develop our films correctly and at the right time. The faculty threw light on the subject, gave us new cameras, and sent us out on an even more extensive survey in the Museum of Time. JANE SITES. Historian 10 'F-
