These five girls began their campaigns by hanging posters, passing out pins, and with their managers speaking to the student body. While the students voted on Thursday morn- ing the candidates awaited the outcome with nerv- ous anticipation. The Homecoming parade con- sisted of cars representing the clubs and classes, and was led by the band. After arriving at Smith Field the candidates awaited anxiously for the band to play “The Hands of Time” and the ceremony to begin. The week was climaxed by Miss Letitia Smith being crowned 1977-1978 Homecoming Queen. The evening ended with the queen reigning over the dance, decorated with an “Over the Rainbow” theme and music provided by Schaan Scott of 9 TOP RIGHT: The Bean’ RIGHT: Don’t rip my jersey, Buddy! It was called ‘digging oneself out.' Janu- ary 26 hosted the worst blizzard of the century. When all that new snow accumulated on top of the 21 already on the ground, people had fun digging out the front door, building tunnels to their car, and zooming to work at a rate of 2 feet per 3 hours and 29 minutes. Several people lost some weight on the “not a crumb in the house diet. The south end of town saved energy by turning off their electric- ity for a few hours during the bliz- zard. By the third day, kids were crying to go away, but not as loudly as their mothers, who were half bald by this time. But remember: it’s not whether you win or lose; it’s whether you’re still alive in spring. 19 BOYS AND GIRLS TOGETHER JUNIOR CLASS PLAY April 14, 1978 Director: Miss Doris Trost Daisy..................................................Pam Mathews Casey..................................................Andy Runyan Rodney........................................................Scott Angle Jubadiah...............................................Scott Doseck Prudence...............................................Becky Yaney Clarrise......................................Felicia Longendelpher Jimmy..........................................................Rick Reck Ida ..........................................................Leisa Ganger Dean Greene..................................................Jacque Heffner Governess...........................................Patty Kelzenberg Children.....................................................Sheryl Rapp Jane Fisher Delicate Frank................................................Karen Parker Sailor.........................................................Mike Tobias GIRLS Deb Besecker Kim Williams Karen Mead Sherry Schaurer Tami Fields Sherry Ludy Kelly Wintrinham Mary Ann Garber Sandy Warner Lisa Shafer Ann Wirick Bea Snedegar Carol Robbins Vicki DeMoss BOYS Mike Schmidt Dale Rhoades Mark Iddings Greg Carder Scott La ugh man CREW Dawn Harrison Jodi Miller Dorena Riedel Patty Black Charlyne Howard Sandy Warner Tami Fields 21 TOP LEFT: The head honcho. This year’s JUNIOR CLASS conducted many fund-raising projects in order to sponsor the JUNIOR-SENIOR PROM, held on May 5. In September they sold T-shirts with graduation years printed on the front. In November they held the annual fruit sale. During basketball season the JUNIORS kept every- one happy, selling their delicious popcorn and hotdogs. On April 14, members of the class presented the JUNIOR CLASS PLAY, under the direction of MISS DORIS TROST with the help of MR. GARY SCARTH, musical director. It was a musi- cal entitled “BOYS AND GIRLS TOGETHER.” At last the PROM arrived. It was staged at the Piqua Elk’s Club. The band, BACUS, was very entertaining.
