Taking tests, wearing bib overalls to support the team, and good hunting safety were all a part of a full schedule this fall. Don't shoot! A special visit from a disc jockey at WTUE, yelling at the top of your lungs, pom-pom routines by our cheerleaders and music from the band were sights at the big pep rally that led up to Homecoming. This is one way to get your tennies washed! 7 Homecoming 1974 was held September 27 with our football team playing Indian Lake. Even though it rained all day, the spirits of the players were not dampened as they ran to a 49-0 victory. The traditional dance sponsored by the Student Council was reigned over by Gail Dennings, the 1974 Homecoming Queen. The ”Sound of Music” filled the halls of CHS when Greg Mason of WTUE emceed the dance. mecoming'homecoming-homecoming'homecoming'homecoming'homecoming-homecoming'homecoming'homecoming'homecoming'homecoming-h ROW 1; Carol Simmons, Rose Mathews, Matt Pond, Gail Dennings, Janell Musser, Kim Angle, Michele Girouard, Jody Montgomery. The year was climaxed by a close second place finish in the sectionals and a fine showing in the district. Covington placed one runner in the State Class A meet. The runner, Rick Longenecker, was the first runner from Covington to run in the state meet in four years. The race is ready to begin. 10 Asher begins to pull ahead. Shively takes the lead. 11 The football team had an excellent season with a record of 9-1 under the direction of new head coach Rex Thompson. 12 The students were asked to show their spirit during spirit week by dressing up. The annual staff and advisor are to be commended for their efforts in presenting the activities of the year. Our congratulations and best wishes for suc- cess and happiness to the graduates of 1975. Mr. Irvin W. Dean Pond The 1975 Buccaneer will serve to illuminate once again the many beautiful memories of the 1974-75 school year. This historic ledger will reveal to future generations the excitement not only of academic and athletic conquests, but it will also recall the relocation of Covington High School into the new facility. This event more than any in Covington history involved students, staff, administrators, the Board of Education, and hundreds of Covington's citi- zens in a momentous occasion which will faci- litate a broader education for students in the Covington School system. I extend a sincere thanks to all the classes for making the 74-75 school year a memorable and exciting experience. I also wish to con- gratulate the Buccaneer staff and their advisor for a job well done. Secretaries MRS. KINNEY - Board of Education Secretary MRS. FRANTZ - Clerk 85 Business MISS ROBERTS MRS.
