The past seven years as head football coach at Covington have been very rewarding ones. There have been events and happenings that I will remem- ber for the rest of my life. During these seven years football has been the focal point of my life, and I have really enjoyed it. But, like all good things that must come to an end, I felt this was the proper time to give up coaching. The decision to resign from coaching was not a snap decision, I knew at the beginning of the 1973 season that this would be my last. It seems almost ironic that the 1973 team was the best team I have ever coached, and that the best played game of the year was Urbana, the last game of the season. This was a wonderful spot to stop. Throughout the past seven years I have been in contact with many great young men, both as men and as football players. I hope that I influenced them in a positive way. As a last act as football coach, I would like to present my all-star team of players from my tenure as football coach at Coving- ton.
