A different style - a different purpose, but with marching season over, all efforts are concentrated on proficiency of the concert band. Before the group even had a chance to feel acquainted with one another they performed for the first P. T. A. meeting of the year. A band clinic was held on February 22, 1964. This was a first for the Covington Music Department. The clinic was directed by George Gaber and Fred Marzan. On the following afternoon Dr. Marzan appeared as the guest soloist at the Winter Concert. Practice concerts were traded with the Milton-Union Band. Later in the season a Spring Concert was given. Efforts were rewarded when the band received superior ratings in both the District and State Band Contests. Officers for the year were: Jane Ann Hartley, president; Conrad Clippinger, vice-president; Nancy Beaver, secretary; Kathy Gearhardt, treasurer; Jill Eshleman, historian; Becky Apwisch, freshman class respresentative.
