In May we had the Reception for the Seniors. The gym was beautifully decorated, centered around a Hawaiian theme. Mr. Joseph Bath was the advisor for our Junior year. Our final year in high school was spent mostly making money for our trip to Washington D.C. and New York. To do this, we had numerous proiects such as scrap drive, sold pen and pencil sets, and bake sales. Our largest proiect was publishing the yearbook. The advisor for our final year was Mr. Louis Apwisch. lb classes Junzbrs 5 A 'iii 'll'fl - 4 'W ll l ii 1 ri fl ll l ,I X. Terry Longendelpher, President, Tony Chrowl, Vice President. Sixteen representatives make up the Council including four seniors, two juniors, two sophomores, two freshmen, and a representative from each seventh and eighth grade homeroom. This organization, working together, sponsored the magazine sales, the football homecoming festivities, Junior Red Cross campaign, TB Spangle Sale, and Teens Against Polio campaign. At Christmas time members of the Council decorated the balcony between first and second floors, and promoted the Christmas spirit throughout the Yuletide season. These were just a few of the many projects the club has done this year, its major project being helping to pay for the new inter-communication system. The F.T.A. club tried something different this year. Each member chose a teacher that he wanted to assist during the year. The teacher could have been either a high school or ele- mentary teacher. Whenever a teacher needed extra help or was absent from school, his assist- ant took charge. Also the F.T.A. took charge of the high school building for one day. Each mem- ber took a high school teachers place for that day and taught all his classes. The teachers were at school to supervise the F.T.A. members. The purpose of this club is to create and maintain, throughout the school and among the students a high scholastic record. 1 Membership of the club is determined upon grades. You must have a 3.0 aver- age or better to be eligible for the club. The club is only open to Seniors, Juniors, and Sophomores. The officers for the club are chosen on a different basis than other organizations. The President is the Senior with the highest average made during his Junior year, the Vice President is the Junior with the highest average made during his Sopho- more year. Although the club didn't have many activities this year because of the building construction, it is hoped that the ideals of the club will continue until better facilities are available for the carrying out of activities which might inspire good scholarship throughout the school. We are better organized and plan things more fully. The main purpose of the club is to eliminate class rivalry, to promote better fel- lowship and understanding among the boys of the upper four grades, etc. Fav- orable results of these aims and obiectives have been proven on the field of action. A varsity letter is required in any sport to get into the club. A candidate for membership pledges for six weeks, after which time the regular members vote for the acceptance of the candidate. This year's officers are: President, Larry Via, Vice President, Louie Deeter, Sec- retary, Jim Finfrock, Treasurer, Rodney Sampson, Sergeant-at-Arms, David Alex- ander. Our advisor is Mr. Wion. Highlights of our activities consisted of a hayride in the fall, showing the films of the football games played the previous week, selling carry-all bags again this year, and a work-day in which everyone participated.
