I boarded my auto-plane and took off for San Antonio, Texas, where I sighted a huge ranch, grazing thousands of horses. I landed my auto- plane on the private runway. As I landed, I heard a voice say, Yuh bettuh be foh movin on, padnuh; it ain’t healthy foh strangers around these hyrh parts. Turning I recognized JANET VIA. She was working for CAROLYN BRUNTON, the ranch owner. They had a contract with CAROL CROFT to supply horse meat for her dog food factory. From San Antonio I went to Dayton, Ohio, where I ate Schaurer's Canned Corned Beef. RAYMOND SCHAURER had succeeded in crossing a cow with corn and owned the world's largest corned beef factory. I bought a news- paper and read the headlines, O' Donnell Frees Client . It was JIM O’ DONNELL, the nation’s finest criminal mouthpiece. I also read that KEITH HENRY was activily campaigning for the governorship of Alaska. BETTY HARTLEY had just opened a membership drive for funds to com- plete a new wing to Miami Valley Hospital, where she was Superin- tendent of Nurses. I journeyed to Covington; factories had sprung up all over the place. Two large factories were; HANNAH MILLER'S Shoe Factory, tor elevat- ed shoes, and Frey, Farmer, Bubble Gum Manufacturers. MARILYN FREY and PAT FARMER had really cashed in on the jawin! Rike's had a subdivision in West Covington, managed by GLADYS YINGST. At the Post Office I met MARY LOU FLETCHER, postmistress there. I noticed a sign saying, Enlist in the U.S. Army, and behind the desk, NANCY FESSLER, who told me that JUDY COATE was the mayor of their city, and that JUDY ARENDALL was the Public Health Nurse. I visited the high school, still the same old joint, in the principal's chair was PAULINE KOELLER. As we talked, the commercial teacher, MARY FREE, walked in. I next stopped in New York City. Passing through the Bronx Zoo, in New York, I recognized someone on a ladder in front of a hippoto- mus, sure enough, it was JIM ROBERTS, pulling hippo teeth. Jim said that several old classmates lived in New York, and he offered to show me around. We went first to an Arthur Murray Dance Studio where we met JERRY MONNIN, the best rumba instructor north of Mexico City. LEOTA SMITH publishes the Men's Home Companion, and KATHLEEN YARIAN, writes love stories for True Confusion. BARBARA BENNETT is the editor and a noted book reviewer. That evening Jim and I went to the Copa Cobana, where we saw RONNIE RHOADES, Juggler King in his Compliments of CLOUGH MOTORS Chrysler and Plymouth Dealer Piqua, Ohio ZIMMERMAN’S JEWELRY Guaranteed Watch and Jewelry Repairing 424 N.
