I boarded my auto-plane and took off for San Antonio, Texas, where I sighted a huge ranch, grazing thousands of horses. I landed my auto- plane on the private runway. As I landed, I heard a voice say, Yuh bettuh be foh movin on, padnuh; it ain’t healthy foh strangers around these hyrh parts. Turning I recognized JANET VIA. She was working for CAROLYN BRUNTON, the ranch owner. They had a contract with CAROL CROFT to supply horse meat for her dog food factory. From San Antonio I went to Dayton, Ohio, where I ate Schaurer's Canned Corned Beef. RAYMOND SCHAURER had succeeded in crossing a cow with corn and owned the world's largest corned beef factory. I bought a news- paper and read the headlines, O' Donnell Frees Client . It was JIM O’ DONNELL, the nation’s finest criminal mouthpiece. I also read that KEITH HENRY was activily campaigning for the governorship of Alaska. BETTY HARTLEY had just opened a membership drive for funds to com- plete a new wing to Miami Valley Hospital, where she was Superin- tendent of Nurses. I journeyed to Covington; factories had sprung up all over the place. Two large factories were; HANNAH MILLER'S Shoe Factory, tor elevat- ed shoes, and Frey, Farmer, Bubble Gum Manufacturers. MARILYN FREY and PAT FARMER had really cashed in on the jawin! Rike's had a subdivision in West Covington, managed by GLADYS YINGST. At the Post Office I met MARY LOU FLETCHER, postmistress there. I noticed a sign saying, Enlist in the U.S. Army, and behind the desk, NANCY FESSLER, who told me that JUDY COATE was the mayor of their city, and that JUDY ARENDALL was the Public Health Nurse. I visited the high school, still the same old joint, in the principal's chair was PAULINE KOELLER. As we talked, the commercial teacher, MARY FREE, walked in. I next stopped in New York City. Passing through the Bronx Zoo, in New York, I recognized someone on a ladder in front of a hippoto- mus, sure enough, it was JIM ROBERTS, pulling hippo teeth. Jim said that several old classmates lived in New York, and he offered to show me around. We went first to an Arthur Murray Dance Studio where we met JERRY MONNIN, the best rumba instructor north of Mexico City. LEOTA SMITH publishes the Men's Home Companion, and KATHLEEN YARIAN, writes love stories for True Confusion. BARBARA BENNETT is the editor and a noted book reviewer. That evening Jim and I went to the Copa Cobana, where we saw RONNIE RHOADES, Juggler King in his Compliments of CLOUGH MOTORS Chrysler and Plymouth Dealer Piqua, Ohio ZIMMERMAN’S JEWELRY Guaranteed Watch and Jewelry Repairing 424 N. 2052 Future Avenue Somewhere, U. S. A. May 14, 1962 Dear Classmate, Upon returning from a tour of the United States, I thought that would drop you a line. I first visited Detroit, Michigan, and Ford automobile factories. As I walked through the main gate, who should I meet but SYLVIA De- WEESE. It seems that she is the test driver for the new Ford auto-jets. While in Chicago I went to a TV station. DONNA GEORGE is do- ing many of their singing commercials. After looking her up, I learn- ed that RICHARD BERGMAN, is the weather forecaster. Upon depart- ing, I found myself opposite Ginn's Department Store. I met JANET GINN, the owner, who told me that RUSSELL LANGSTON was a hair- dresser in her beauty salon. He is the rage of Chicago. Upon arriving in St. Louis and needing a shave and haircut, I tried Yingst’s Clip Joint, LOWELL YINGST, barber. Mr. McNeal, was his inspiration, he had given Lowell so many close shaves in Physics, that Lowell decided to give out a few himself. ELAINE LAUGHMAN had as exclusive women's gym in that city; she is the reducing and body- building instructor. While talking to her in walked FHERN KIMMEL and JOYCE KLINE, professional women basketball players, who owned the St. Louis Blues. Later, as I was about to cross the street an enor- mous truck almost knocked me down, but fortunately, I wasn’t hit. To my surprise, MARILYN ROBBINS was the driver; two other classmates were associated with the Acme Trucking Co., owned by PAT DILTZ. PAT BLAMERT was her secretary and CATHERINE STAMBAUGH was another driver. Since we were blocking traffic, a cop came up; I rec- ognized her as JENNIE SPENCER. After that they had to send the riot squad to break up our conversation and get traffic moving again. I moved on to Seattle, Washington. Later I noticed an item in their paper about Dr. Warner, a noted lady biologist. My curiosity aroused, I went to see. Sure enough it was ELOISE WARNER. She informed me that she was trying to cross minks with apple trees, so that mink coats would grow on trees. Walking down the street, I noticed a big bill- board which advertised cosmetics. SAM'S Cosmetics. I located the factory and found that Sam and Sam were none other than SHIRLEY ANN MAIER and SARA ANN McCOOL. They have invented lipstick and perfume guaranteed to repel men. Shirley and Sara told me that the American representatives to the Olympics were training near Seattle. The first person I saw at the train- ing grounds was JANET POMERANZ, best figure skater in the United States. I stopped in San Francisco about suppertime, where I found a nice little restaurant owned by JOYCE WEAVER. She had invented a sand- wich called the dogburger , made by frying ground hot dogs. Later I decided to go to the wrestling matches. Battling for the Women's Championship was DORIS SLADE. Wow, what a fight! In Las Vegas I found a night club which featured SHIRLEY YOUNG, the bubble dancer. The bouncer of the club was PAUL NORTH, grown to six foot six inches tall. v 4 m, PEARSON’S LAUNDRY Scnitone Dry Cleaning — Rug Cleaning — Linen Supply — Fur Storage Troy, Ohio 23
