Signed: THE CLASS OF “50” ( 1 ) 4TH ANNUAL BLACK AND WHITE MINSTREL SHOW • • • On Tuesday, February 7, the Seniors took over the running of the city for a day. Center is Robert Crosier as mayor. On the left are David Beard, Ann Trembly, Dick Alyea; on the right are Kay Kimmel, Carol Macy, John Mann as the council. Other offices of the city were held by other members of the class during the day. ( '15 ) Class Prophecy I live in a boarding house run by JUNE SMITH. Now this house is no ordinary boarding house, no siree! This boarding house is only for the upper crust you might call us. I have a nice comfortable flat on the third floor (attic in other words). I am never lonely, as many of my old classmates live here, too, and we often talk over old times. EILEEN DERR and BARBARA JOHNSTON, the Fuller Brush saleswomen, live on the second floor and that is where I’m visiting now. They are sitting here with their feet in buckets of water and ice packs on their heads, it must have been a hard day. They had their television set on and had invited me in to watch it with them. How surprised I was when the face of RONALD ARENDALL appeared on the screen announcing the blues singer, NORMA KELLEY and her accomanist on the Hammond organ, THOMAS FINFROCK. They were playing the all time, all timer, Chopsticks. Oh, goody, they’re going to have the wrestling matches now. The first match is a bout between “Beautiful (DAVE) BEARD,” “Heman (DALE) HARSHBARGER,” vs. the team of “Naughty (ED) NOLAN” and “Kissing (KAY) KIMMEL.” It should be a good match because they are all big now and weigh over 200 pounds. The engineer, BERLIN KAUFFMAN, is turning the camera on the audience and who do we see but DALE BOYER. He is sitting in the front row with his world famous sextuplets. Aren’t they cute! Here comes Ronald again. He is announcing the nationally famous lady wrest- ler, ANN TREMBLY, better known as “Gorgeous Gussie.” She is giving a speech on the womanly art of self defense. Her husband must have taught her the technique. Well, I really must go to my room now. It is time for supper and I want to take a shower first. Now they tell me that RICHARD MARKLAND, the plumber, got foul- ed up and hooked the gas to the water pipe and the water to the gas. June had to cook supper in the sink. On the way to my room I passed LORENE CLARK’S room. She has a secretarial school; so I don’t suppose she is home yet. After a very good supper, I sat down to read the Pathfinder Magazine. Isn’t it remarkable the number of old acquaintances you can read about in inter-national news. For instance, here is a two page color spread advertising BEA HESSLER’s Gaiety Girls and featuring JANICE SNYDER as Bubbles, the head dancer. They’re almost as famed as Radio City’s Rockettes. ( 16 ) Turning a few more pages I come upon a picture of DEAN KLINE, the mayor of New York City. And to think, we used to call him Dizzy. Across the page was a picture of a beautiful girl, Princess Liza Kanan, daughter of the Shah of Arabia. She’s getting married to ROBERT MUTZNER, the original wo- man hater. Her father is giving a million dollar dowry. My, flag pole sitting has come back into style. The new world champion is “Cutie Croz” who has a record of 186 days, five hours and fourteen minutes. His reason was that he is a poor farmer and needed to take in some money on the side. It says here in fine print that his real name is BOB CROSIER. Aren't the new men’s hats this vear iust too silly for words. That Paris hat de- signer. Monsieur CARL RECK, is making men’s hats that women wouldn’t be caught dead wearing. On the farm page, it is announcing that DONALD MONNIER, the president of the Flyin Farmers Association, is organizing a sight seeing tour of the world. Any farmer with a jet can join the group. My friend CAROL MACY, who works in a rest home for poor tired out history teachers, just now came in and asked if I’d like to go over to the Shelter House for something to eat. Shawler and Smith's Shelter House, owned and operated by RICHARD SHAWLER and DON SMITH, is quite a place. They sell opium over the counter and ROBERT EARICK runs a gambling room in the basement. HELEN BREWER, the chairman of the local W.C.T.U. committee, along with JOHN MANN and DICK ALYEA of the police force, have long tried to clean the place up, but, as yet, they haven’t succeeded. She said they were cruising around in the new squad car looking for possible victims of alcohol, I guess. I refused her generous offer to pay for the eats and decided to go to bed instead. Sleep, that’s what I need, so good night everyone. — CLASS OF 1950 ( 17 ) JUNIOR CLASS ROW I—Ruby Knick, Virginia Tobias, Jim Ellis, Bill Langston, Dick Hemm, David Crotinger, Jack Looker, Marjorie Ault, Bertha Smith. They sold license plates, birthday calendars, and gobbies. At the home basket- ball games they sold cokes and other pop, candy bars, chewing gum, popcorn, and ice cream bars. The class play “Susie the Siren” was a siren which drew a large crowd to see the play which made the class a lot of that green stuff. To the Juniors, remember only one more year! ( h r ) Buccaneers In Athletics FOOT BALL With six lettermen reporting to Coach Simpson for the gridiron season, high hopes for a successful season were in the air. As it was, the season ended with a record of six wins and two defeats which is a very good record for a 3rd year team. The Buccs displayed fine defensive work in the forward line which proved very hard for other teams to penetrate. Another asset to the team was its hard running backfield strongly supported by the reserves. The seniors retiring from football this year are: Tom Finfrock LH, Dave Beard FB, Bob Crosier LE, Kay Kimmel LG, and Eddie Nolan RT. The lineup for this year’s team is as follows: Left end—B. Crosier: Left tackle—B. Collins; Left guard—K. Kimmel; Center—B. Frey; Right guard—B. Langston; Right tackle—E. Nolan; Right end—D. Hemm; Quar- terback—G. Forsythe; Left halfback—T. Finfrock; Right halfback—J. Ellis; Full- back—D. Beard. • • • BASKETBALL Covington Buccaneers under Coach Harold Deeter had an average season this year with six wins and ten losses. In an Invitational Tournament at Randolph, the Buccs broke even, winning one and losing one. At Springfield in the Southwestern District Tournament, the Buccs won the first game against Sidney Holy Angels but lost the next one with Lakeview, who eventually became the runner-up in the District. The Buccs displayed a very fine defense and offense this year as can be seen from the scores of the games.
