jIM JOE DEDICATION AUTO SKIDS, KILLS LUDLOW TWINS, such read the Sunday morning headlines 0f the E11- quirer, January 13. And thus in the Providence of God ended the earthly lives of two outstanding Colonels, James and Joseph Corbett. Two days before these headlines became a te- ality, Jim and Joe, along with the rest of the swim- ming team, had competed in a meet in Louisville, During one Of the meets Joe participated in the medleyl In the second last lap he got a Crampl He stopped, then started toward the side of the pool. The coach asked him if he would go on. Joe answered, Ill try Then completely exhausted he went on to finish third and hence add points for the team. This was the typical reaction of both Corbetts. And not only in swimming! As members of the Sodality, the Student Senate and the swim- ming team, they were seldom asked to do some- thing, but when that time arose they would always give it a try, no matter how difficult it might be. Even while they lay dying on the highway with a priest at their side, their last words were, Yes, Father. To describe them with superlatives would take too much space. In a word, they were truly Christ-like Gentlemen. We, the Seniors of 1963, in paying them special honor, pray that their example will guide us to become and remain, like them, real Christian men. We deem it a real honor to dedicate this book to Jim and Joe.
