5. William Alsup Liega Arnett Shirley Austin Stuart Rn Ties Math French English Science There is a tendency with students to look upon their teachers as machines, programmed to Walk, talk, and teach. Little do they realize the human element involved in this profession. Little do they realize that a member of the faculty can have pleasures, dislikes , emotions of happiness and sadness , and feelings of satisfaction. In fact the greatest amount of satisfaction that a teacher realizes is to see his students progress and grow mentally and physically. The faculty of Covina High offers a large variety of talents to their students. Most of the teachers possess some sort of musical or athletic ability that the average pupil never sees. Robert Green, left, conducts the school orchestra at a musical presentation. Richard Simonds, right, exhibits his un- mistakable efficiency in playing the piano. There seems to always be a need for one of these men. Their job is one that cannot be underscored and each one de- serves a special word of thanks from the students. Mr. Bernie Martin is in charge l of the custodians and sees to it that they each perform their i specified duties. Students not T should be thankful to the men who set up the rallies, the as- semblies, plays, and musical presentations. H, it t' The cafeteria staff, under the direction and supervision of Ethel Christopherson, sees to it that Covina students get a well-balanced meal at both A and B lunches , and that the pupils receive a nourishing snack at the brunch break. It is a tremendous task to feed 1700 students , but the caf- eteria ladies do the job excellently. Hungry students are greeted daily by a cheerful staff of cooks , who constantly put out a good meal. The staff also cooks for the faculty and prepares the meals for any banquets that come up in the school year. T 21
