On july 16, 1933 in Longview, Washington, a girl was born who now affects the lives of many of the students of C.l-I. S, This woman is not only aca- demically orientated but she is a main link in the chain of commtmications between students and administration. South Kitsap High School was the scene of her active high school career. Among her activities at South Kitsap -she was president of both the G.A.A, and the Girls' League, she was awarded the honor of Girl of the Year as well as Athlete of the Year and she was the recipient of 2 scholar- ships. After graduation she went on to college where she spent 1 year at Olympic State, 5 years at Central Washington College of Education, 6 Weeks at Claremont Graduate School, and 2 years at L.A, State. In her college years her name appeared in WI-IO'S WHO IN AMERICAN COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES , she was Voted Senior Most Likely to Succeed, Best Girl Athlete, and she also re- ceived the Top Ten Honors Award. Her hard Work in college earned her 2 masters degrees, one in special education, and the other in counseling and guidance, plus a P.P. S. credential. Her teaching career includes 2 years of work with the mentally re- tarded, 2 years teaching algebra and serving as a counselor, and 2 years as a first grade teacher, during which time she received the ' honor of Teacher of the Year. She has many outside interests which includes stage plays, sports, church work and playing the bongo drums. I-Ier outstanding abili- ties in sports won for her the title of Miss Softball of the Pacific Northwest, which she held for 8 years, plus the title of All-Star in state and regional tournaments. Her sharp skill in basketball helped her win the women's free throw record for the state of Cal- ifornia. It is with great admiration that we dedicate our book to our Dean of Girls, Miss Alene Key. 9
