A , .mfy . . ,. ,fi 0 1? - ., ,, 1 ... ff Og J' 6 W r Vkv-'X 5 x n Cv W 'Q 'mann ' c I -Y 1 mmf a'c gau- .un a nnsuasuv - u ull!!! yncudnnu. vu , nnnnlvncnu .-f--nos-'...n , if , 1 ,, X E' 3 5 . irgy 5- ,f .ff I J , ir these students assisted the clerical staff throughout the year. row li dee tapia, ernie whorton, peggy garcia. row 2: judy rniller, bonnie timmons, pat lock, iudy smith, Valerie heckler, iudy heckler. student staff better relationships with others, busy, well planned ,time and orderly fun were in store for the students who donated their services to the student staff program. their services were many and varied. we saw these students busy in the malt shop filling orders, in the cafeteria washing dishes, making change, in the student store help- ing fill the requests for a' pack of paper and a candy bar, please. farther down the corridor we saw the staff in the attendance office hur- riedly filing slips and collecting absence cards. we saw the staff busily learning the rules and regulations of library procedure and assisting in the process of shelving and checking out books. these varied activities helped wear out many these colts filled numerous orders at brunch and lunch row i: shirley mossey, melbo ogle, bonnie mc donald, iudy everett, sharon rountree. row 2: karen kattoff, linda lindsey, diane noran, theresa mc kinney. shoes. the cafeteria and malt shop staff served us daily row lr iohn cantrell, larry jackson, charles choidez, cliff beeler, david snyder, bill schaffer, dave dewey, ron wright. row 2: gerald iustice, bob shedd, brian domey, jeff mack, jack fox, dennis york, i. b. ross, iohn ragent, charles summers. l in 1- the clerical staff kept accurate records of each student. classified staff through the aid of the classified staff many of the important iobs on our campus were handled efficiently. the cafeteria staff prepared and served delicious lunches. the custodians were on the job when something needed repair in the maintenance department. the bus drivers kept their feet on the brakes, waiting for late students at the bus stops. the clerical staff kept records of each student's grades and attendance. the classified staff working together helped make this past year successful. the custodians capably filled an important job this year. .ind the cafeteria staff served lunch to many hungry students Viv i , - .ki 4 the bus drivers took colts to and from school. president our popular student body president this year was gary williams. his biggest job was managing the busi- ness of our student body government. he presided over the cabinet and aided in planning school affairs. as an active member of pep club and esquires he devoted much of his time to their activities. money raising proiects for the swimming pool fuhd received his strong support, and through gary's efforts, school spirit soared. sandy fields, a.s.b. vice-president i e- ,- gary williams, a.s.b. president vice - president also devoting many hours of service to our school this year was sandy fields, our vice-president. ln addi- tion to her main duty of presiding over the legislature, she was a student lawyer, treasurer of c.s.f., a member of pep club, and a member of senior council. she helped to prepare the student directory and plan the senior quad. the main activities in which sandy has engaged have benefited by her leadership and made a better year for covina high. fa- , ch ,,' HP.-iff Q.: ' iff'-,3 i-v' ' ,- .'.' SQHIOPS Covina high school seniors, finishing four years of preparation are ready for the challenge of the adult world. in the next few years they may go on to advanced schooling, take their place in the world's work, or establish a home and family. wherever their ambitions lie, the knowledge and experience they gained, and friendships they made in high school will form the foundation for further achievement. it is the hope of everyone at covina high, teachers, counselors, and fellow colts that upon this foundation our seniors may build abundantly and well. Covina pulled for their only points with a flashy double reverse from davis to richins to mc dannel who sprinted 40 yards for 6 points. cheering students helped the Colts fight an- other game, this time against el monte. pros- pects were promising as the score at the half read 7-7. a Costly penalty set up the lyons sec- ond tally of the evening and the Colts suffered their second loss of the season when the final score showed el monte 14, Covina 7. spirits dropped and the Colts had to win to keep their rooters, as they tallied a score of 14- 13 over the montebello oilers. joe rudmann, 225 pound tackle for the Colts, crashed through the oiler's line to block the kick to keep Covina in the lead for their only win of the season. the stands shook with cheer as Coach mc clellan was carried off the field by happy Crowds. hope faded and the cheering Crowds dwindled. the Colts lost all the rest of their games of the season. every week scores were built up against them: 6-O, 36-18, 14-13, 20-14, 39-20, and 27-13. it was a hurt Covina team. the lack of spirit and support from the bleachers and the number of injured players made Covina suffer one of her hardest football years. T' m, if ,V - 14 14fg , - ..Mf.3. :J-f ',m -al varsitu track L runners to your mark . . . get set . . . and then the gun sounded, setting off another race in the covina high cinder season. along with the scheduled meets, the members of the team had a chance to pick up a few medals during the season by running in the many relays of the area. in the first relay of the season, the santa anna relays, we saw iohn mcdannel, schobert scherer, cliff walker, phil norton, and charlie hamson bring home gold medals for their re- spective performances in the tour man 440 yard dash, and the four man mile. a week later, don smith, roy barraclough, and frank sutton walked off with the gold tallies for their 120 low hurdle shuttle relay performance at the el monte relays. these and many more were won by the covina cindermen during the season. these relays not only let the boys gain a little recognition, but it gave them valuable experience and training in preparation for their coming league season. coach monson and coach prieur again led our boys in a manner befitting the best coaches in the league. ou.
