TOM SPURGEON . . . . . .COVENTRY'S MR. TRACK Co-captains Jim Beckley and Tom Spurgeon, both outstand- ing milers, led the cross-country team in its first season of league competition. By placing second in the district and eighteenth in the state, Spurgeon gained commendable recognition for himself as well as for C. H. S. His teammate Jim Beckley placed sixth in the district and twenty-ninth in the state to round out cross-country honors.
