Madrigals Late November featured the annual Madrigal Dinners. As is customary, the dinner was around two-and-a-half hours long and consisted of the Madrigal Singers, the Covenant Brass Choir, a children's choir, and a minstrel, all performing during the dinner feast. Response to the annual event was tremendous and resulted in the event being sold out soon after the tickets went on sale. 100 Events uf, QV M , 7, A if X f iw ,J F V. , ,, .,vA Y ,V , , f, f f u 1 -:.q.,:.:,41.- ,, ,M I If F f f 7 f , f ff ww f , if V 0 , nf f , , f X' ,ft w M 'ep 543, if ,, 1 0 U 1. As for this year however, the basic chapel system remained the same except for minor changes in small group chapels. The program this year varied from controversial speakers, such as Al Martin and Franky Schaefer, all the way to handbell choirs and others musical programs. Through these different programs it can be said that the Word of God was presented continually and uncompromised. Events 103 Masquerade Party And U.S.0. Show The Social Committee gave the students a chance to re-live Halloween by making this year's fall banquet a masquerade party. The banquet was held in the Great Hall and featured a contest for the best costume, a scavenger hunt, and even a breakdancer. Students came to the banquet dressed as everything from Raggedy Ann and Andy to the Bermuda Triangle. The winners of the contest were Arny Arnold and Robin Gabriel who came as a bedroom set. Second place belonged to Todd Pettit and Tammie Pols who came as a clothesline while third place was nabbed by Matt Phillips and Tim Van Voorhis who came as Mondale and Ferraro. The Social Committee's next function was the annual spring semester's Kilter Night. The women of Covenant got an opportunity to ask their favorite man to a 1940's style U.S.O. show, dressed for the occasion. This also took place in the Great Hall and featured Forties-style entertainment, good food and group contests. 104 Events 7 NW' PM 5 hw 1 'GW' ill?-'E 'TWIT j 444m I? 5 Au W W W , xii M . Events 107 Special Events .5 ,, ,Z W Qs fi in 2 2' 9 f fi The amount of special events , those events not continued on a yearly basis, dropped somewhat from previous years. Only a handful of concerts were put on such as Romanowski's and Final Triumph's. Other events that picked up the slack included a visit by a magician and a renewed emphasis on the Fine Arts Week. After Phil and Hal introduced Late Night, they joined the Chosen Few Review in order to put on the skits that followed. The next play, also directed by Dean, was See How They Run and included Christa Smallman as Penelope Toop, Jenny Shell as Miss Skillon and Rick Pettit as Corporal Winton. The third play was something not seen at Covenant before and that was the first musical, The House of the Lord . Other sports that are offered consist of soccer, volleyball and softball. Soccer, which was played early in the fall, was limited to the men and had teams divided according to classes. In this year's action the seniors Qclass of '85J took the championship by defeating the juniors and thus finished their intramural history with an undefeated record. Volleyball, which was played in the spring semester, was the first sport of that semester's coed sports. It was played primarily for the fun of it since no championship was awarded. The last sport of the intramural year was softball and that concluded the weekend before final exams. This sport was also coed, yet the intensity level was a little higher since the championship was on the line. In the end Al DeHart's team prevailed as they defeated The Basketball Team and protected their perfect record.
