m ' The view of our task to seek the Kingdom of God should be held in a sensitive balance of being in the vvorld, but not of it. Time in the vvorld weighs heavily on our hands. What is accomplished with that time steadies the scale if it carefully builds tovvard the furtherance of the kingdom through the guidance and instruction of the Word. In consideration of a person vvho seems to be working in the world vvith a balance in vievv, vve thought of one vvhose abilities stablize one another. He goes about his work with humility and confidence, is self-conscious yet candid, has strong convictions coupled vvith an open, avvare mind, dissolves his time into his family, his church, his students and his role in the administration. In gratitude, we give respect to Dr. Nicholas P. Barker, and dedicate to him the 1974 Tartan. 13
