The Spirit Days Were: Monday-Toga Day Tuesday-Punk Rock Day Wednesday-Opposite Sex Day Thursday-Grubby Day-Bonfire The seniors won the spirit Week competition which consisted of yelling, egg tossing, passing an apple, and dressing up. Beauty Queens? No. That's Rob. Etin, Troy. The Three ... Four Stooges. James Chuck are a little nearsighted. Christy washes Troy's mouth out. Boy, these guys make togas look FUN. VARSITY VOLLEYBALL The Varsity Volleyball team did very well this year, earning the right to play in the District Tournament at Nyssa. The team consisted of: K. Hohstadt, C. Ash- lock, S. Stephens, L. Hafer, S. Ott, T. Bieker, D. Corbin, P. Endicott, C. Frank, Coach C. Elliott, T. Howland. The Varsity Volleyball team finished the sea- son second place in league. This allowed them to advance to District play-offs held at Nyssa. They first played and defeated Monument. Then they were defeated by Prairie City, finishing third in District play after a win over Mount Vernon. Cove placed seven out of ten players on the Old Oregon League All-Star teams. They were: First Team: Cara Ashlock, Sheri Stephens, Christy Frank. Second Team: Lisa Hafer, Kris Hohstadt, and Sherry Ott. Honorable Mention: Pam Endicott. Cove also placed 2 members on the District All-Star team. Christy Frank-First Team Sheri Stephens-Second Team Sherry spikes and the team covers. Cove penetrates the double block. Their ability to play as a team helped them to a second place finish at Districts. They had their best games against Crane, the Old Oregon League Champi- ons. After beating them twice, the team advanced to the State tournament in Baker. 35 The Cove JV was outstanding this year, with an overall record of 13“5 and a league record of 13-1. The JV team played only a 2 quarter game toward the end of the season so that if they were needed, could play Varsity. The Varsity team had a successful season. They finished 3rd in League, and went on to become the District Champions. Mr. Ott was pleased to see the team advance to the State Tourney. 39 CHEER LEADERS The squad consisted of (at right) C.
