Marshall, R. Norton, D. Miller, S. Valade, T. Pill For the first time, this year the cheer- leaders were divided for Fall and Winter sports. These girls cheered for Football and Volleyball while a different group cheered for basketball 10 12 STATE SEMI-FINALS! Cove: 44 Arlington: 8 Cove stomped the defending State Champions. For the sec- ond time this year the Leopards defeated the Honkers, this time for the right to go to the State “B” Football Championship game. We had no trouble in doing whatever we wanted in the contest against the Big Sky Champions. 14 STATE FINALS! Cove: 28 Prospect: 28 What was called “the game of the year” by many ended in a tie. One of the most Physical games played at any level, it proved to be a spectator’s delight, as the lead jumped from one team to another. The team consisted of L-R: Coach V. Rager, Coach R. Hill, D. Harrison, D. Corbin, C. Marks, K. Hohstadt, L. McQueen, M. Tay- lor, K. Hartley, K. Parker, A. Anderson, L. Wells, L. Howell. FALL SPORTS BANQUET This year we decided to divide the sports banquet into a fall and a spring banquet. The fall sports banquet honored the participants in Volleyball and Football. Hawthorne BOYS VARSITY The Boys Varsity Basketball Team did a great job this year with an 8 and 2 record in League play. Hartley, Coach Ott. 24 The Varsity Girls Basketball Team had an outstanding year. They fin- ished League undefeated, going into District at 19-2 (having lost to only Elgin and Joseph). Chris placed 2nd in the 300 Meter Hurdles, and Lani place 6th in the 100 Meter Hurdles. Our relay team, which consisted of Chris Page, Nolan Thompson, Stan Mitchell and Darin Howell, also went to State but did not make it past the preliminaries. Although she is only a Freshmen, Devra in the next 3 years. Several other athletes competed at District, but did not qualify for State.
