THE LEOPARD Table of Contents Dedication .................................3 Faculty.................................... 4 Activities.................................11 Sports..................................... 25 Seniors....................................41 Cl asses................................... 59 RESOLUTION • In the past few years I have been associated with several yearbooks. In all of those cases the attitude of the whole staff was, Lets do only what we have to, to meet the deadlines. This year we have a great staff. We also have a great editor. These great people are the accomplishment of years of careful interbreeding. Our great staff has been well organized, they have many excellent ideas. This annual will not be something thrown together by the deadline. It is a work of great art, I hope you enjoy it. Matt Bristow Head Photographer 2 In all the confusion and activity that goes on throughout our high school years, we often fail to recognize the people that make our education what it is; the people that make our school system work. The person to whom we'd like to dedicate this yearbook is a man who is greatly admired and respected by all Cove students. He teaches a variety of classes including the advanced math and science courses. He does more than teach, though. He also keeps score at all of our basketball games and is the school clerk. He provides the sense of accomplishment that we all need. When we get an A in one of his classes, we know we earned it. And if we're having difficulties in a class, he's always there to help us. For all the faithful, patient years you've devoted to Cove School, we here-by dedicate this 1978-79 Annual to you, Mr. Clifford Towle. 3 Faculty 4 L to R: Snodgrass Towle, Ott, Baker, Miles, Looslie, Pereira, Macke, Carrod, Stewart, Lybecker Helpers 5 L to R: Coodson, Woods, Kershaw, Hill, johnson. For the first time in many years, the senior's parents were invited in addition to junior and senior stu- dents, faculty, and special guests. The speaker, Mr. Monte Garrison, was chosen by the seniors. His talk was excellent and brought to mind many fond memories of the past. The senior speaker for the evening was Susan Gray. The junior speakers were Khris Lewis and Junior Class President, Candy Wil- son. The senior theme was “Dream What You Dare to Dream. Go Where You Want To Be. 'ZJi nz fox lh The Junior Senior Prom this year was held on the third Saturday in April. It was done in bright spring colors with original decorations. The band performing was Street Talk and the king and queen elected were sen- iors Mark Townsend and Laura Gray. It was a very spe- cial and memorable evening for all. 23 Freshmen Initiation 24 Homecoming Queen Jodi Madsen, escorted by Wayne johnson. But, as the season went on our minds changed. We grew in confidence and in unity. Our season was great for us along with the State Tournament. We ended up with a 23-2 record, losing only to Pilot Rock and arch-rival Powder Valley. We had a team total of 1,666 points and gave up only 816 points defensively. Our State Tournament was great too. Setting five State Class B records. 1. Highest shooting percent from the field 55%. 2. Highest score in a state tournament. 3. Highest free throw per- centage — 66.5%. 4. Most total points scored in a State Tournament — 120. 5. Highest rebounder in the State Tournament — Deanna Tally. That's not all either. Us girls wouldn't have gotten where we did if we hadn't of had that great support from our community, school, and parents. Thank you for a great season we will always remember it!
