THE LEOPARD In this the bicentennial edition of the Cove High School Annual we thought it would be nice if we discussed the mascot of our school the Leopard. Mrs. Miles, our advisor, says that in the stone age. Sabre Tooth leopards were fierce predators and that this trait helped them overcome primeval Badgers, and she ought to know she was there. All through history the Leopard has brought fear to the hearts of man, look at Leo the Leopardhearted or the Black Leopard, or Tony the Leopard. At the present time the leopard is known by many titles, Leopard the Great, Robin Leopard, The Leopard from the Black Lagoon, but the most honored, feared the revered of all the leopards is the Cove Leopard. The Cove Leopard has made a name for himself all across Union County and through most of the state. We of the Annual staff hope that this year book will help to immortalize the Leopard so that people many years from now will still know of the proud name of the COVE LEOPARDS.
