The boys had an opportunity to show their outstanding sportsmanship as well as their earnest efforts. Everyone worked exceptionally well with our new coach. Mr. LeRoy Childers. It was a good year and everyone was bettered not only in physical ability, but in character and in sportsmanship. The 1963 football season was one of victory and hardships. The tough fighting Cove team battered their way to third place in the Baker B League. They handed defeats to Imbler, Hereford, and Huntington. Their over-all record, league and non-league, was 4 wins and 4 losses. The team was constantly hampered by injuries throughout the 1963 season, but everyone worked that was able, and the season as a whole was a success of everyone. The basketball season proved to be very exciting with three games ending in overtime and several games with just a few points difference. The boys worked hard but did not achieve full confidence until the latter part of the season. Their record for the season was 6 wins and 15 win losses. Everyone felt that their efforts were well spent and that they had worked to the best of their ability. The 1963-64 sports season was a success because of the efforts of everyone who participated, and also the people who devoted their time and effort to the sports activities at C.H.S. Those most worthy of recognition are our pep club and cheerleaders and their director, Mrs. Chatwood. We hope that future sports seasons will be as rewarding as this one. Bob Briggs R. E.
