' Hz, . q Now that we are on the threshold of graduation, we s e ni ors will attempt to recall our past years of fun and frolic and our diligent studying. Suddenly We begin to realize that our days at Cove Cre ek High are hastily diminishing. Even as we look forward to graduation, deep in our hearts we wish that we could begin anew. We realize now that nothing can replace those cherished memories of our high school days. As we look ahead to the future, our hearts are laden with the thought of never returning to Cove Creek High again as students. As a compensation, we shall recall our most treasured m e mo rie s. We shall vividly relive our fre shman year, from which we remember those mad scrambles and embarrassing moments when we selected the wrong classroom.Thenwe shall recall eating in the cafe- teria, the ball games, and the five minutes between classes when the girls talked of the latest fashions and attempted to catch a beau, while the boys tried to smoke ciga rs and discussed multi-carburetion and twin fuel injection only to be told to write a theme for being late in arriving to class. True, these are only memories, but to us they cannot be replaced by riches. Gradually the memories of our freshman year begin to recede only to be replaced by those of our later years. As sophomores we began to be proud of our school, even more so than before. We shall never forget our playful, but serious, preparation for the junior-Senior Ba nq ue t, which was an outstanding success. Now, too quickly, our senior year is growing to an end. The e ve nts which were once uneventful are now dear to our hearts, and we must begin to look toward the future instead of the past. Although we regret to le ave Cove Creek High, we feel that we are prepared to advance into the future. Bec ause of our limited capacity to remember, we rn ust look to this COVETEER to preserve for us our memories of our high sc hoo l, its te ac he rs, and our classmates. if S-Nj Z Wx '-- John Bmglwom, Principol I wish to express my sincere appreciation to the stu- dents and faculty for the help and cooperation you have given me at Cove Creek High School. What accomplish- ments that have been made here have been a c hi e ve d through your untiring efforts. To the seniors I extend best wishe s in your chosen fieldg to the undergraduates it is hoped that you will return next fall dedicated to the task of making the most of educational opportunities offered here. 6 l 3 Faculty ----.-.....,.---Q-.-.5--a WHY 'gyms K1-fn T2 ....- ..---f- ROBERT G. DAVIS Home Economics JO ANNE EGGERS President I The Senior Cfoss Four happy and profitable years flew by, and we were suddenly facing graduation. From fright- ened and confused freshmen and wise fools, we came to be juniors worthy of notice. Then as seniors how proud we were to have all eyes upon us as team players, school officers, club leaders, publication editors, and National Honor Society members. Our senior year was a year of finality-the last junior-Senior Banquet, the last Harvest Festival, the last homecoming half-time ceremony, the last trip, and the last exams. On graduation night we were giddy and jubilant, but filled with a sad emotion. Clutching our diplo- mas, we walked with lagging steps to join our par- ents and friends at the last reception. Not until the final goodbye did we realize how much We had loved it all. RICHARD ANDERSON LO IS DANCY CAROLYN MILLER Vice President Secretary Treasurer ,wut Pformmg Board JO ANNE EGGERS, RICHARD ANDERSON, JEAN LOVE, JANE I-IENSON, LESLIE HENSON, CAROLYN MILLER, DOROTHY COMBS, MACK MAST, LOIS DANCY. The year 1959-60 was one ofplans-plans made hast- ily in moments of time and successfully carried out through the cooperationof every class member, whowillinglyde- voted both time and energy. Though our success was not always outstanding financially, as a class working together in harmony, it would be hard to surpass the Class of '6O. For those who follow, we set an example. Fun night, h o m e c o m i n g dinner, Washington trip, annual. These were words we heard many times during the year. As the year drew to a close, we came to a re- alization that our plans had succeeded far beyond our ex- pectations and that truly from small ideas worthwhile projects grow and dreams become a reality. This has been a year of hard work and concentratecl efforts, especially for those of us who will be leaving Cove Creek this year and for those who will be mo vi ng up to the senior class next fall. It has been a period of studies in the various fields, studies enabling us to successfully enter a highly competitive world. 88 We ploy . C o v e Cr e e k has provided us with many interesting activities in the past four years. A m o ng th e s e were the movies, ftm nights, junior-Senior Banquets, and our sports activi- ties, which included baseball, basketball, and wrestling. We have enjoyed our many outside events, in which we have either been a parti- cipant or an enthusiastic -hystander. And Look To The Future . As we depart from Cove Creek, we will be sad, yet happy as we look to a future which each of ussincerely hopes is going to be a pros- perous one, prosperous not only in the attain- ment of financial success but in happiness and satisfaction. -... up gg mi nn-um 5' . This ls For You To Qur Advertisers To publish a yearbook requires a great deal of work and cooper- ation. If it were not for the loyal support of our advertisers, the 1960 COVETEER would not have been possible. We are grateful for the help and financial support of such wonderful people. This participation on their part reflects their interest in and concern for the youth of Amer- ica. In order to show our appreciation we patronize them. It's been a bit of a struggle, this book. It looked at tim es as if there 'd never be any end to it. We didn't realize that so much plan- ning and so many hours of work would go into it. . .but we met our deadline, and with the cooperation of the Hunter Publishing Company the book is being delivered to you on time. A word of thanks goes to Mr. jack Morris, of Charlotte, our pho- tographer. We appreciate the cooperation of the staffs and of all the persons for whom the book is being published. Fa c ulty members, you were patient to put up with our numerous classroom interruptions and the responsibilities we placed upon you. We thank you. Here is your yearbook.
