Hisforg When we came into the ninth grade we had thirty- one students on roll. Our Freshman class officers were:President, Dwight Carter, Vice-President, Wesley McMurray, Secretary, Barbara Cranfill, Treasurer, Charlotte Miller. We had several boys and girls out for sports. Basketball-Barbara Cranfill, Barbara Sain, Charlotte Miller, Nancy Comer, Margaret West, Billy White, and Avery Johnson. Football-Dwight Carter, Wesley McMurray, Waytsel Reavis, and Jerry linda Pettit and Phyllis Dinkins. Mr. Brown was our ninth grade homeroom teacher. We had several who participated in the World Melton. Cheerleaders were: Peace Contest. Barbara Sain, Jo Ann Wilkins, and Dwight Carter were runners-up. Wesley McMurray was Mr. Courtney High. We lost several students ketball this year were Avery in the tenth grade. They are as follows: Allen Martin, Peggy Wishon, Berley Wagner, and Carolyn Shore. Those who played bas- Johnson, Wayne Chamberlain, Charlotte Miller, Barbara Sain, Barbara Cranfill, Nancy Comer, and Margaret West. Those out for football were:Dwight Carter, Wayne Chamberlain, Jerry Melton. Those who were Cheerleaders were:Judy Reavis and linda Pettit. Dwight Carter won the World Peace Contest. Barbara Sain tary, Joe Comer, Treasurer, teacher. We were glad to welcome three new students our junior year. They were: Billy Vestal, Peggy Reid, and Mrs. Shirley Ferguson. girls going out for sports this year. Linda Pettit was chief c he erle ader and Judy Reavis was co-chief. Those out for football were: Chamberlain. Those out for basketball were: Barbara Sain, Barbara Cranfill, Charlotte Miller, Nancy Comer, Margaret West, Wayne Johnson. Those out for baseball were: Wayne Chamberlain, Joe Comer, and Tommy Baity. We had seven girls who were eligible to join the Beta Club this year. They were: Charlotte Miller, Barbara Sain, Barbara Cranfill, Margaret West, Dorothy Warren, Ann Harris, Jo Ann Wilkins, and Nancy Comer. Our class officers were: President, Avery Johnson, Vice-President, Barbara Sain, Secretary, Judy Reavis, Reporter, Gail Craver, Treasurer, Dorothy Warren. Miss Anthony was our homeroom teacher and sponsored our Junior Play. Our Jtmior- Senior Banquet was at the Allen-Jones Restaurant near Statesville. We think it was the best ever. Dorothy Warren was elected assistant editor of the annual. The Senior year was the highlight of our four years. We feel we have reached one of our first milestones of life. Our Senior officers are: President, Shirley Ferguson, Vice-President, Eleanor Steelman, Se c re ta ry, Dorothy Warren, Treasurer, Gail Craver, Reporter, Avery Johnson. We had several taking an active part in sports this year. Those out for football were: Wayne Chamberlain, Billy Vestal, and Jerry Melton. Those out for basketball were: Barbara Sain, Barbara Cranfill, Nancy Comer, Marg aret West, Avery Johnson, and Wayne. Chamberlain. Those out for baseball are: Joe Comer, Wayne Chamberlain, Billy Huff, and Tommy Baity. Gail Craver was elected chief cheerleader, and Judy Reavis, co-chief. Avery Johnson was chosen Mr. Courtney High this year. Our home- room teacher was Miss Anthony. and Charlotte Miller were runners-up. SECTION I To our devoted Parents we will our love and sincere appreciation for their sacrifices which have made it possible for us to attend school. SECTION II To the Faculty we will our deepest appreciation for their patience while aiding us to gain more knowledge. SECTION III To the Juniors we will the Sport Activities, hoping they will win many County Championships. SECTION IV To the Sophomores we will our love for a good time, hoping they can have as many as we have had. SECTION V To the Freshmen we will our ability to get along with others. SECTION VI We, DORIS REYNOLDS and BILLY I-IUFF, will our friendliness to Pat Fulk and Bobby White. We, TOMMY MACEMORE and WAYNE CI-IAMBERIAIN, will our ability to stir up trouble to Lowell Livengood and Jerry Kimmer- I, JOANN WILKINS, will my musical ability to Marie Miller. I, BARBARA SAIN, will my ability to succeed to Margaret Dinkins and Millie Styers. We, ANN HARRIS and BRADY WOOTEN, will our quiet ways to Coleen Shore and Nancy Wood. We, NANCY COMER and WAYNE Cl-IAMBERLAIN, will our athletic ability to Aileen Steelman and Arthur York. We, ELEANOR STEELMAN and JUAN COH.EN, will ou.r ability to be best sports to Mary Wooten and Donald Renegar. ' We, LINDA PETTIT and JERRY MELTON, will our ability to be popular to Glenda Joyner and Charles Miller, Jr. We, JUDY REAVIS and TOMMY MACEMORE, will our talent to Ruby Horne and Arthur York. ' We, BARBARA CRANFILL and BILLY WHITE, will our ability to dress well to Janet Baity and Johnny Steelman. Q! We, MARGARET WEST and BILLY VESTAL, will our personalities to Pat Fulk and Charles Miller, Jr. We, DOROTHY WARREN and AVERY JOHNSON, will our ability to get along with our fellow students to Brenda Hurt and Joe Renegar.
