We were very proud to gain two new students this year which were Harvey Miller and Lewis Booe. Of course, we had marshals, this being our junior year. The Senior year was the most important year of high school. First of all, let me take space to name the class officers, which were: President, Harold Lashmit, Vice-President, Wayne Hollarg Secretary, Nellie Mize, Treas- urer, June Williard, Reporter, Patsy Brawley. Another highlight of the year was the annual. Our senior advisor is Miss Catherine Anthony. We have 30 stu- dents QI4 girls and 16 boysj. None of us expects to graduate with high honors, however, we will graduate with a year of frm and hard work! CLASS PROPHECY As I was getting ready to leave for my vacation this May 25, 1963, I decided it would be fun to look up as many of my fellow classmates as possible. Incidentally, I am Geraldine Norman, now secretary for Piedmont Air Lines in New York City. H1.u'riedly I wrote a note to my roommate and classmate of '59, Violet Horne, now a well-known actress in Western Movies, called a cab, and headed for the airport. Having a few minutes to wait, I switched on the T. V. and heard that Johnny Hanes had won the race at Indianapolis--by the way, he was driving a Ford. I switched channels and there was Patsy Brawley making her first appearance on the Lawrence Welk Show. They announced that my plane had arrived so I hurried to my seat. There I met another one of my class- mates, Margarett Vestal, who was the stewardess, and, to my surprise, she told me that Grady Wiles was the pilot. I began to wonder if I would arrive safely when I found out that Gray Cranfill was co-pilot. As the plane landed I saw Athalea Wilkins who is now happily married and also secretary of Wilson's Construc- tion Company waiting for me. As I went to collect my baggage, I met Wayne Hollar who had just arrived from Hollywood where he had been singing in a night club. He told me that Ray York was making a big hit there also. At last we were on our way. While passing through Winston-Salem we decided to stop by and say hello to June Williard who is now married and working at R. J. Reynolds. While we were there she told us about others. Betty Groce is now living in Germany with her husband. She also told me that Eldon Snow is in the navy and that Wilbur Baity and johnny Martin are now comedians on the Ed Sullivan Show. Shirley Royal is playing basketball at College. Glendal Pruitt, as I expected is now happily married and living in California. Athalea and I thought it would be fun to visit Dear Old Courtney, so we did. There we met two of our class- mates. Harold Lasmit who is now principal and to our surprise Nellie Mize is now teaching English. They told us that Gilbert Nance now owns a big farm and is very happy, and that Harvey Miller and Lewis Booe own a big restaurant at Statesville. Eldon Steelman and C. G. Hutchens are still loafing around as usual. Vauda Hutchens is now a professional football player and that Wayne Livengood is happily married and living at Courtney junction. Also, that Maybelle Dinkins is now designing clothes in Florida. To bring my visit to an end I met Blanche Ledbetter and Mary Sutphin who were on their way to the City Hospital at Winston-Salem where they are now nursing. Marie Baity is an X-ray Technician there also. Gee! It has been so much fun finding out about my classmates of '59. GERALDINE NORMAN Class Prophet Page Thirty-Eight , 1 WMM...
