GOODRIDGE PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE What's in it for me? A common question asked by many people when ,asked to do something. But, have you ever Thought about it in relation to your oppor- tunities at school? If you have thought about it, I'm sure you'll find there is a great deal in it for you. Whether you are using your high school work as an end product, or as a stepping-stone to college, you will find that there are rewards to be gained. The dividends are not all monetary in nature, in fact, they are much more valuable than mere money. There is no way to put a value on the ability to think for yourself, good iudgment, a knowledge of others, and a host of other dividends to be gained. These, however, are not automatic outcomes if you go to school. There must be a willingness on your part to put forth the effort to gain these things. With a little thought I'm sure that you will be able to see the answer Principal to What's in it for me? THE FACULTY 'fl' MR. To this fine group of teachers we owe immeasurable gratitude. We will long remember their helpful instruction and guidance. Not only do they aid us in the classrooms, but also in various extracurricular activities. This year two teachers were new to our school, but they quickly applied them- selves to the school life. Our teachers put a great deal of-time and effort into their iob, that of turning out future citizens in top form. :fr an 11, 5 T ' , Pi 32,2 MR. E. F. MCCARTHY, B.S., University of California, MR. O. SERVICE STAFF Sincere thanks is given to these people who spend so much of their time cleaning up our school, preparing our lunches, and safely driving us to and from school. As we look back upon This school year, we realize how much we need and appreciate our Service Staff. The Student Council is composed of the Student Body executive officers, the class presidents and representatives, the yell leaders, and the song leaders. These students represent the Student Body in many affairs, leading the school in business matters as well as promoting the many Student Body activities. Another important f.1nction of the Council is to meet with other schools to discuss mutual problems and their solutions, thus improving inter-school spirit as well as our own. A major project this year dealing with school government was the revision of the school constitution. Another noteworthy change which has been made in our government was the changing of Student Body officer terms from a semester to a full year. This gives the Student Council a chance to carry out long-range plans. ,F CAROL JEAN ALBERTE Badminton 1, 2, 3, 4, Double District Championship in Berkeley 2, Team Captain 1, 2, 3, Champion Girls' Team 2, 3, Junior Red Cross 1, Speech Choir 1, Fashion Show Production 2, Student Council 4, Class President 4, Class Secretary 2, Honor Roll 1. NPCPCORN AND PEP The Class of '59 has done it again! We have united together under the able leadership of our class officers, and have contributed to the school in athletics, scholastic ability, and spirit. To help finance our yearly activities, we carried on the profitable pop- corn sales at the games throughout the year. Our Junior Prom in November, which was titled Almost Paradise, was carried out in a Hawaiian theme and was a great success with the student body. Our assembly came next, and despite much anxiety, it was agreed that we presented an entertaining show. To finish up our year, we gave the annual Junior-Senior Banquet which was enioyed by all who attended. Our class feels that as we come to the end of another year we have finally reached our goal for teamwork and pep! First row, left To right: D. Andreuccetti, S. Craner, K. Graham, J. HERE, THERE, EVERYWHERE Our Sophomore Class got off to a good start this year under the leadership of a fine group of officers and advisors. After much discussion, we decided on our class rings which were approved by everyone. Our class feels that after much hard work, our annual dance was a wonderful success. We put a great deal of time and effort into our Sophomore assembly, but our hard work was rewarded by the enthusiastic reception of the audience. Our class has progressed steadily since entering High School, and we are anxiously waiting to learn what the next two years hold in store for us. 3' 2 First row, left to right: S. Fitzpartick, R. We quickly organized our yearly activities and elected our officers, all capable leaders. First on the Frosh agenda was a reception given in our honor by the Student Council. Then came our annual dance, the Freshman Hop. lt was the first dance of the year, held in November, and was a big event.
