Like a tree. a student branches out into all fields of endeavor. These formative high school years deeply influence the student's direction and growth. Surely we at Courtland High have been fortunate. Later, as you leaf through these pages and re-live your high school days, may this pictorial grow in value and bring joyful reminiscence for all the years to come. lVlay you remember and cherish the challenges, accomplish- ments, and above all, the friends at Courtland High. It is because of their willingness to give up their own time in serving the community, that each year something is either improved upon or added to our school. help us? ln our complex civilization you are subjected to many conflicting pres- sures of society. They come at you from all angles and with varying degrees of effectiveness. During this period of your mental and social development, it is extremely important that you come to the realization of this, and learn to cope with these pressures as they may affect you. The education you have and will acquire through the years, will help you understand and evaluate those pressures, and bend them to your will, rather than he warped or broken by them. Wmfmwdaw MRS. K. Due to this year's expanded enrollment, it was necessary to add one more member to our faculty. This year, five of our teachers were new to the school scene. However, these new facesn soon became old friends as we came to know them and to trust their abi.lity. As we look back upon this school year, we realize just how much our faculty has taught us through their instruction and guidance. This doesn't apply to the classroom alone, but to our outside activities as well. 5 . Succeed 144 H Courtland High's class of '58 united together to really accomplish something this year. The profits from selling popcorn helped us a great deal in financing some of our projects. We presented the annual Junior Prom in Novemberlwhich was titled, Heaven on Earthf' All, who attended, agreed that the dance was a big success. Our assembly was given with many headaches and bitten fingernails on our part before the final curtain went down. All of our anxiety was rewarded, however, for the assembly was well received by the audience. Winding up our school year, we gave a very successful Junior-Senior Banquet. All in all, it would seem that when it came to getting something done, this yearis Junior class showed exceptional spirit and teamwork. 1 so I 1 X vi E13 fs 3. FI . ll 7444 and ?fzolcc All seventy-three members of our Sophomore class were determined to have a very successful year. From the looks of this year's record it seems that we have accomp- lished this very thing! One of our most important activities of this year was our assembly, which was a big success. Also on our agenda came the Sophomore Dance. All, who attended, enjoyed them- selves very much. ln keeping with school tradition we selected our class rings, which were quite satisfactory. As our second year of high school comes to an end, each member. of our Sophomore class is eagerly waiting to see what the last half of high school holds in store. First row, left to right: L. Swartz. if ff Off to 4 good Steve!! Our Freshman class settled down quickly to high school life by organizing ourselves and by electing class officers. The first dance of the year, the Freshman Hop, showed that we could really work together in getting things done. The dance succeeded in breaking the ice, and had a large attendance. Our Freshman assembly displayed the talents of some of our class members. It was thought by many to be one of the best assemblies of the year. Scholastically and athletically, our class contributed their share to this school year. By the success of our activities we have proven to the other classes that we, as a united and organized class, can accomplish what we set out to do. 1.5-u 1 ima K w Q , at K Xi all :Q nz 5 43, A 'V A I igfiiiik 'iw -T A' I W K Qv'?, 'Q,kx' k ,, Ox Myrk in . a .
