gfcbtofzy Forty-three bewildered Freshmen came to Courtland High that memorable September of 1952. Four years sounded like a long time, but look how quickly these four years have passed. Lowly Freshmen . . . the reception given by the Sophomores . . . President Tom Sakata . . . our very first dance, the Freshman Hop . . . honor roll . . . sports . . . orientation . . . for it is up with the Green and Gold . . . we were very busy learning to become a part of Courtland High. Sophomores . . . President Ronnie Vierra . . . long debate over the selection of our class rings . . . blue ribbons, a polka-dot pig, a fishing booth, from County Fair, our Sophomore dance . . . C.S.F. membership . . . football, basket- ball . . . the day we received our rings and we officially became the class of '56. Upperclassmen . . . our Junior year . . . President Phil Sullivan . . . the popcorn machine . . . Musical Memories, black silhouettes, a mobile, music by Bill Rase, our Junior Prom . . . Student Body offices for several . . . the Junior Assembly, Red Sullivan and his Toast of the Town . . . featuring the can-can . . . track and baseball . . . trips on the rooters' bus . . . Block C . . . the Junior-Senior Banquet . . .this was our busiest year. Our Senior year . . . Fall Semester President Joe Mendoza . . . the magazine sale, top salesman Roger Malcolm . . . the budget . . . Senior pictures . . . the dance band and the Senior Assembly . . . La Perita Staff members . . . Student Body elections . . . Spring Semester President Phil Sullivan . . . a trip to Sacramento Junior College . . . senior problems . . . a twice-postponed snow trip to Soda Springs . . . sports . . . football captain Jack Carmany, basketball captain Clyde Gregg . . . the trampoline . . . the Fashion Show . . . C.S.F. Sealbearers . . . Senior C . . . our Senior Ball, the best dance ever . . . the Banquet, the Senior will and prophecy . . . Bank of America Awards . . . thirty five Seniors . . . graduation. As we come to the end of our years here, we can see our class dispersing, but the Class of '56 will always be together in our cherished memories of the school called Courtland High.
